MARCH 24, 2020
During this stressful time, we believe it's more important than ever to stay healthy and fit and to exercise our minds and bodies. We're bringing you our new newsletter, Healthy at Home , which will include the latest updates from the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, links to at-home health resources, family fun activities and more.
WORKOUT VIDEOS MADE JUST FOR YOU
This past week, we were happy to launch several of our own workout videos on the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA YouTube Channel , featuring our instructors. You can view them here . In the coming days, we plan to add even more content, including those for families and kids.

Don't see what you're looking for just yet? The Y community is also offering YMCA 360 , a virtual initiative that connects you to the best instructors and classes across the Y movement. Get your workout started here .

We want to be here for you during this time. If you don't see your favorite program on our YouTube channel, reach out to us on our Member Feedback Form and let us know what you'd like to see.
Did you see the video on Facebook with our Registered Dietitian Donna on how to start an at-home garden? If you missed it, view it here .
ENGAGING EXERCISE CIRCUITS EVERY MORNING
If you're looking for more fun fitness finds to try while at home, each morning on our Facebook page , we're bringing you the Y Morning Circuit At home.

Using the ABCs of the YMCA, we'll be releasing a new word each day. Simply do the exercises that correspond to the letters in the word to create the circuit, and do each circuit three times for a complete workout. For example, our first word was STRONG.

TAKE OUR EXERCISE CHALLENGE
Are you up for the challenge? We just launched our at-home health challenge on our Facebook page . The grand prize? A healthier, happier you. Share it with your friends and family and see who can complete it first.

Challenges include: take an online class on our YouTube Channel or YMCA 360 , take a walk at lunch, disconnect for the afternoon, no eating two hours before bedtime and more.

You can download a printable version of the Challenge Card here .
FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
All of the above can be modified for families with children. In addition, our Gymnastics coaches put together a calendar of fun activities you can try each day of the week.

Download a printable version here.

More child and family activities will be available soon on our Facebook page, YouTube channel and website.
IMPORTANT SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE UPDATE
We have postponed open registration for the 2020-2021 school year for our before and after care programs. Registration will now take place online beginning Monday, April 6 (regardless of whether the YMCA is open). If you will be in need of School Age Child Care next year and are interested in learning more information as it becomes available, please fill out our interest form with your information here .
SEEN ON SOCIAL
During meditation, you focus your attention and quiet the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress, the Mayo Clinic states. Meditation can instill a sense of calm, peace and balance that can benefit your overall health.  #stressrelief

WE'RE HERE FOR THE COMMUNITY
Our plan is to be here for you now more than ever. And we sincerely hope you will continue this journey with us. We will be consistently updating our social media accounts, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, with content; will continue to send out information through emails, and update our website and mobile app.

Even though our doors are shut, our work and mission is more important than ever. Our staff have been contacting our senior members and those who are most vulnerable to check in and see how they are doing. Moving forward, we are looking for more opportunities to serve our community and help us all be stronger together, when our doors reopen.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
#WEAREYSTRONG

When you enter the doors of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, you’re part of something bigger. You’re part of a community of people who support one another through good times and uncertain times, and work together to weather the storm. Now, non-profits such as ours need your support more than ever. Please visit fspymca.org/giving to learn more about our community impact and how you can help.
STAY WITH US

One of the most important things you can do right now to support our Y is to keep your Y membership. Our Y employs close to 400 people and serves nearly 10,000 local individuals. By keeping your membership, you'll help us reopen our doors just as strong as before. Our Y relies on membership to operate on a daily basis and to offer vital programs and services such as summer day camp, child care, swim lessons, chronic disease prevention, health management, exercise classes for all ages and more. We can't do it without you!
ADVOCATE FOR THE YMCA FOR SUPPORT RELIEF

As New Jersey lawmakers consider proposals to address concerns stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, it is important that charitable nonprofits like New Jersey’s YMCAs receive support and resources to best serve our communities during this crisis. Please take a few minutes to contact Governor Murphy and your State Senator and Assembly members and ask them to prioritize nonprofits like the Y in any economic relief packages! Click here to send a message.
HOW TO REACH US
Our staff continues to work remotely while the Y is closed. If you have a question about your Y membership or programs, please email [email protected] and we will make sure it gets to the appropriate person.

You can also call the Y at 908-889-8880 and leave a message. We will be checking messages daily.

Please understand that we are receiving a high volume of inquiries and we will do our best to get back to you within 48 hours.
