Coffee With Community Leaders Springs Sessions

Strong communities are built on connections, and some of the best conversations happen over coffee. That’s why we started hosting Coffee with Community Leaders—a relaxed and engaging way to meet local decision-makers, ask questions, and discuss the issues shaping Pottawatomie County's future. We hold three sessions each spring and three in the fall, bringing together key leaders and community members for meaningful dialogue.

We’re excited to kick off our Spring 2025 series on Wednesday, April 23, from 8 AM to 9 AM at the Pottawatomie County Veterans Memorial & Museum. Our first session features Pottawatomie County Commissioner Abby Thompson, County Assessor Leona Satterfield, and County Sheriff Freeland Wood, who will share insights into their work and vision for our community.

There is no cost to attend, and everyone is welcome. Whether you’re a business leader, an engaged resident, or just curious about local issues, we’d love for you to join the conversation. Coffee is on us, thanks to our generous sponsor, Scooter’s Coffee!

Your team will learn how to apply the fundamental principles of Lean to your manufacturing processes. High-retention learning is accomplished through both classroom time and four rounds of simulation. Each round of simulation is followed by classroom learning focused on the basic building blocks of Lean Manufacturing. Participants then work as a group to modify their simulation work environment based upon their newly acquired knowledge.

Team Power:

Building Success in Shawnee

A business is only as strong as its team. In Shawnee, fostering a thriving business means more than just hiring; it's about building a talented team and cultivating a positive work environment.

Start with strategic hiring. Seek individuals whose skills and values align with your company's vision. Look beyond qualifications and consider character, work ethic, and willingness to learn. Once you've assembled a skilled team, create an environment where they can flourish.

This means fostering open communication, providing opportunities for professional development, and recognizing achievements. A positive work culture encourages collaboration, boosts morale, and reduces turnover. Invest in your team's growth, and they'll invest in your business's success.

In Shawnee's close-knit community, a reputation for being a great place to work is invaluable. Word-of-mouth spreads quickly, attracting top talent and building customer loyalty. Prioritize your team, create a supportive atmosphere, and watch your business thrive.
