Shared Plates,

Shared Futures a success!

Our inaugural Shared Plates, Shared Futures event this week was a resounding success, bringing together local businesses and students for an evening of casual conversation and community building. The event's purpose was to serve as a placemaking opportunity, connecting Shawnee students with local business leaders in a relaxed atmosphere. By encouraging conversations over a shared meal, we aimed to build connections that inspire students to see Shawnee as more than just a place to study—but as a vibrant community where they can build their futures after graduation.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the local businesses that participated, generously sharing their time and experiences to help students feel welcomed and valued in our community. Their willingness to engage and mentor young talent is vital to creating lasting relationships that will encourage graduates to stay, invest, and thrive in Shawnee. Together, we are building a stronger community, one shared plate at a time.

-Crystal Romanyszyn , President/CEO

Stay Storm-Ready,

Shawnee Businesses!

As severe weather season approaches now is the time for all Oklahoma businesses to prioritize preparedness. Developing a comprehensive plan is crucial, encompassing clear communication protocols, robust IT support and recovery strategies, and thorough business continuity plans. Consider leveraging resources like the Ready Business Toolkits from Ready.gov to create hazard-specific plans for before, during, and after a storm. Furthermore, we encourage you to explore becoming a StormReady Supporter by establishing a severe weather safety plan, conducting regular training, and connecting with your local National Weather Service office. Taking these proactive steps will help safeguard your employees, protect your assets, and ensure the resilience of our business community.
