Care to Grow, Childcare Grant Program

We’re excited to launch Care to Grow, a new childcare grant program made possible by a $200,000 award from the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness. Through this initiative, Shawnee Forward member businesses may be eligible to receive up to $5,000

per eligible employee per year to help offset the cost of childcare.

This program comes at a critical time for our community. In Pottawatomie County, families are facing a significant gap in childcare availability, with just under 1,500 licensed childcare slots for a population of more than 72,000. Annual childcare costs in our county range from $10,790 to $12,468, depending on the child’s age and the type of provider, putting a considerable financial strain on many working families.

When care is unavailable or unaffordable, employees are often forced to make tough decisions. Cutting hours, missing work, or leaving their jobs entirely has a ripple effect not only on families but on businesses and their customers. That’s why we’ve created a Childcare Toolkit to help educate employers about the real impact inconsistent childcare has on the workforce. This toolkit includes valuable information, data, and resources to help you better understand the issue and explore practical solutions.

The Care to Grow childcare grant program is designed to address these challenges head-on by supporting families, strengthening our workforce, and helping local employers recruit and retain parent employees. I’m currently scheduling appointments to meet with business owners and HR managers who want to learn more about how this program and the toolkit can benefit their teams. If you’re interested, I’d love to come out and talk through the details with you. Email me directly to schedule a time. CEO@ShawneeForward.com

American Made? How to Market Your Made in USA Products

Consumers are interested in buying U.S.-based products, a need that small businesses are uniquely positioned to meet.

One of the biggest arguments for reshoring your production operation is that it can attract new customers. A recent poll from the Alliance for American Manufacturing found that 82% of shoppers would buy more Made in America products if they were sold more widely. Reshoring your manufacturing can not only bring in new business but also boost brand loyalty. Here’s what you need to know about marketing your domestic production operation.
