A Busy and Exciting Fall for Shawnee Forward!

The past few weeks have been filled with incredible moments and community engagement. In recognition of National Manufacturing Day, we celebrated with the help of Oklahoma Natural Gas by delivering over 600 ice cream sandwiches to some of our local manufacturers—just a small token of our appreciation for the work they do to support our local economy.

We also held Shawnee Insights & Vision: State of the City, where over 160 attendees gathered to hear Mayor Eric Stephens share his vision for Shawnee’s future and City Manager Andrea Weckmueller-Behringer recap all the work accomplished over the last year and a preview of the priorities for the coming year as well.

In addition, we had the honor of hosting the Director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation at our CEO Roundtable and Young Professionals group, hearing about the history of OSBI and sparking insightful discussions about mentorship.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! There’s so much more in store. Be sure to Save the Date for our final two Business After Hours events of 2024: OBU eSports will be our host in November and Sovereign Bank will close out the year in December—an event you won’t want to miss!

Have a great week!

Savvy Bites Receives First Facade Improvement Grant

Shawnee Forward is excited to announce that Savvy Bites, a gifts and kitchen specialties store located at 118 East Main Street, has been awarded the first Facade Improvement Grant. Known for its excellent selection of flavor-infused balsamic vinegars, premium extra virgin olive oils, and gourmet kitchen supplies, Savvy Bites lost its storefront sign during the tornado that struck Shawnee on April 19, 2023. With funding provided by the grant, Savvy Bites will be able to replace the sign and continue welcoming customers with a fresh, restored facade very soon.

Funding is still available for eligible businesses, and we encourage those interested to apply!
