Lord Jesus,

As we gaze upon the statue of St. Francis, awaken in us the same reverent wonder that the holy friar felt for every creature, calling even the smallest bird “brother or sister."

Grant that the beauty of the stone and the surrounding garden may lift our hearts to praise you, just as Francis sang the Canticle of Creatures, seeing in the sun, the wind, and the earth the radiant glory of the Creator.

May this encounter inspire us to live an integral ecology, caring for all of God’s creation with the humility and love that Francis modeled, so that our lives become a living prayer of stewardship.

Amen.

November Feature: A Discussion with Todd Cooper, D. Min.

November 18, 2025

Immediately following the noon Mass.

The Grotto Conference Center

Why Did God Become Human? And Why It Matters!

There are two schools of thought on why the Son of God became the Son of Man. Was Jesus Christ's Incarnation a response to sin or was it planned by God from all eternity? This presentation reframes salvation as participation in God’s life, offering a deeper understanding of faith, evangelization, and personal spiritual growth.

Todd Cooper, D.Min.

Todd Cooper recently earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Mount Angel Seminary, marking a new chapter in a life devoted to faith, service, and theological reflection. For twenty-five years, Todd served the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon as assistant to the Archbishop, where he played a vital role in supporting the Church’s mission and leadership.

Now an aspiring author, Todd brings his deep love for theology and his heart for evangelization into his writing, seeking to inspire others toward a richer understanding of their faith, and a more profound love for God and one another.
