On Thursday, November 12, the Neighborhood Legal Services Program of the District of Columbia invites you to celebrate the clients and partners at the center of our work. Every day, our clients face difficult circumstances with courage, and they deserve to be treated with dignity and to have a skilled advocate at their side. We are grateful to the pro bono attorneys, funders, volunteers, and neighbors who make that possible in every ward of the District.

Each year, NLSP presents its Leader of Justice Award to a leader, volunteer, or innovator in the civil and social justice communities. This year, we are proud to recognize Gina F. Adams, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of FedEx Corporation. A native Washingtonian, Gina graduated from Ballou High School in Southeast DC before going on to American University and Howard University School of Law, and she has remained closely connected to the District throughout her distinguished career.

A Special Tribute to Bingham “Bing” Leverich

Presented by James J. Sandman

This year’s celebration will also honor the memory of Bing Leverich, who passed away in August. Bing’s relationship with NLSP began in 1969, when he became one of the first Covington & Burling associates to rotate to NLSP. That assignment was planned for six months and lasted nearly two years. He went on to serve on our board for more than 30 years, many of them as co-chair, and remained a devoted friend to NLSP for more than half a century. We are honored to remember him among the community he helped build.

We hope you will join us as we honor Gina, remember Bing, and celebrate this community together.
