Residents play an important role and help our township staff complete cleanups in a timely manner. This is a reminder that Montgomery has an ordinance that prohibits on-street parking during snow emergencies. Do not place trash or recycling cans out until the plows have passed. Find more guidelines and snow safety tips here. Police also wish to remind all residents after snowfall to thoroughly clear snow/ice off the tops of their vehicles before driving. We hope you stay safe and warm while enjoying winter weather! Check this list of preparedness reminders from our Office of Emergency Management ahead of impending snowstorms.

A special thank you to the dedicated members of the Montgomery Department of Public Works who cleared our roads after Sunday’s snowstorm. We are fortunate to have municipal employees who go above and beyond to guarantee that our residents can travel safely throughout our community.

Online applications for annual dog and cat licenses are now open. Licensing can be completed at the free rabies clinics. The first clinic is this Saturday, Jan. 24 at Otto Kaufman Community Center from 9 a.m. to noon. It is suggested to bring cats from 9 to 10:30 am and dogs from 10:30 am to 12 noon.

The license fee for spayed/neutered dogs is $20 and $23 for non-spayed/neutered. The license fee for spayed/neutered cats is $10 and $15 for non-spayed/neutered. There is a flat fee of $25 for three or more spayed/neutered cats. Licensing after Jan. 31 will be subject to a one-time $25 late fee in addition to licensing fees. Proof of valid rabies vaccination through Oct. 31, 2026 must be provided. Payment can be made by check or exact change. Contact the clerk’s office with questions at (908) 533-9188.

Beat the Winter Blues is back to help spark the fire of community spirit in Montgomery! This annual tradition offers a supportive space where residents can shake off seasonal sluggishness, share a smile, and enjoy activities crafted to inspire joy, resilience, and togetherness. Participate in hands-on workshops and fun activities that encourage healthier habits and positive coping skills such as family yoga. Enjoy light refreshments, including hot cocoa with members of Montgomery Police Department!

The Montgomery Departments of Health and Planning have activated a community transportation needs survey to better understand how residents travel, where service gaps exist, and how we can improve mobility for everyone. Take the survey here.

Montgomery offers a convenient shopping trip shuttle for seniors in partnership with Somerset County. The free service includes curbside pickup, 1.5 hours of shopping at ShopRite or Kasia Market, and up to four grocery bags delivered to your home. Reserve your spot by calling (908) 231-7115.
