"After these past 5 months at CITA, I'm sure it was God that brought me here. This program brought the discipline and accountability back into my life and reintroduced Jesus to me."

A Note from

Executive Director

Buddy Morrow

As we move into this Thanksgiving season, I look back on a couple of Sunday evenings ago when we had our Graduation & Recognition Service. We had 16 men receive recognition certificates for completing certain phases of our program and 2 men graduating from our program. It was a joyous occasion seeing the smiles on these men’s faces for the accomplishments they have achieved in their new life. A few of the men came into CITA after contemplating or attempting suicide because they were so discouraged in the path they had taken in life. Many became so discouraged in life they couldn’t look up, allowing some of the strongholds of life to win the battle. But, thanks to you they were given another chance in life and are moving forward; not only praising and serving the Lord but giving Him all the credit for their life transformation. They are truly thankful CITA was here when they needed help.

On another note, pray for us as we reach out Thanksgiving Day to feed as many people as possible in our community who show up and share a meal with us. It is a time we get to help meet the needs of others, but most importantly it is an opportunity to share the Gospel with many. If you need someone to celebrate Thanksgiving with, come and join us as we have a wonderful meal and fellowship as a large family.

Man of the Month

Wayne Valentine

God brought Wayne to CITA broken, but ambitious. He had a lot of baggage to work on but recognizing and submitting to the cleansing power of Jesus, Wayne is now walking free in God's grace. He is actively investing in his future spiritually, mentally, and financially, all while practicing the love of Christ in the lives of his fellow residents. He is now seeing his children on a regular basis, and plans on having his own home very soon to rebuild his family completely on Jesus. We are so proud of how far you have come here at CITA, way to go, Wayne!

Brandon Branham

Director of Operations

Congratulations, Wayne!

Volunteer Spotlight

Ginny Kosa

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. ~Ephesians 2:10

Ginny Kosa is a new volunteer at CITA Rescue Mission, and we are so blessed. She has a quick, contagious smile and a true servant’s heart, and she is willing to help wherever there is a need.  Originally from New Jersey, Ginny enjoyed a career in recruitment and managed a staffing service for engineering, medical, and technical fields. She and her late husband, Bob, raised 3 children, and she loves seeing her 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren (with two more great grands on the way!)

Ginny attends Beacon Baptist Church in Melbourne where the men at CITA worship every Sunday morning, and through her service at CITA an opportunity to get to know some of the residents a little better. She prays for the mission and those we serve here daily, and she looks forward to Helen’s House opening for the women and children in our community who are in desperate need.

Ginny, thank you for your service! Welcome to the CITA family!

Ways to Give

Did you know?

People who hold Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are required to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) each year beginning at age 72—even if they don’t need or want the funds. That same required minimum distribution increases the IRA holder’s total taxable income. An individual donor can contribute up to $100,000 per year from their IRA(s) in Qualified Charitable Donations (QCDs), as long as that individual is 70½ years old or older. For married couples, each spouse can make QCDs up to the $100,000 limit for a potential total of $200,000. The $100,000 per person limit applies to the sum of all QCDs taken from all IRAs in a year. A donor can make one large contribution or several smaller contributions over the course of the calendar year. Additionally, QCDs can be made from any or more than one of the IRA types (traditional, inherited, inactive SEP and inactive SIMPLE IRAs).

If you would like to make a qualified charitable donation directly from your IRA to CITA Rescue Mission, please notify Lesli Smith, CITA’s Director of Development at 321.725.5160 or Ljsmith@citamission.org. You will also need to contact your financial advisor for assistance in this transaction. Learn more about donating your RMDs to charity here:
