UHS Resource Spotlight: The Sexual Health Education Program (SHEP)

The Sexual Health Education Program (SHEP) empowers students to feel comfortable with their bodies and make informed decisions about sex.

Weekly Sexpert Clinic

Students can meet one-on-one (and/or with their partner) with a trained Sexpert (peer sexual health educator) on Fridays from 12-3 pm in Health Promotion (2nd floor of UHS) to 1) Discuss sexual decision-making, sexual communication, safer sex, and contraceptive options, and 2) Get a free and anonymous HIV antibody test. Schedule an appointment through the eTang portal.

Free Home STI Test Kits

Drop by the Health Promotion Office (2nd floor of UHS) on Mondays from 10 am to 12 pm to pick up your free kit which tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea. The kits do not require a medical appointment with a doctor and are available for the fall 2022 semester only. Please ask for Robin Mills at the front desk.

Tips for staying safe on Halloween

If you are planning on partying this Halloween, remember these party safe tips to help you keep a fun night from turning into a scary situation.

  • Make a plan - Before going out, make a plan and stick to it. Do your best to stay with your established group. Watch out for each other and get home safely.
  • Keep an eye out - Be alert and notice risky behaviors and situations. Trust your gut. Know the warning signs of alcohol poisoning and the steps to take to help your friends if they need it.
  • Pick your poison - Don't mix substances. Make sure you're pacing yourself when drinking alcohol. Stay hydrated, know your limits, and watch your drink at all times.
  • Respect community guidelines - Be respectful of the policies and expectations of the spaces you are in. Avoid social, academic, financial, and legal regrets.
