Together, we are able to show up in meaningful ways.
Dear Friend of The League,
'Tis the season to be thankful! In my year-end reflections as we prepare for 2026, I am overwhelmingly grateful for the integration of our local community into all that we do. The League would not have almost 100 years of service to some of Maryland's most vulnerable residents without committed volunteers, corporate partners (like Gordon Feinblatt), generous donors, and supportive families of participants. The dedication, compassion, and trust of friends like you makes our mission of independence, self-sufficiency, and joy possible.
I am inspired and impressed by League staff members every day. Whether they are a direct support professional providing care to individuals, or they have a support function helping make operations run smoothly and the facilities shine, I am very proud of our teams! Their collective patience, passion, and creativity infuses programming with something special that makes everyone feel seen, heard, and valued.
Through our approach of lifecare, we do not focus solely on a person's medical needs - we focus on empowering children and adults to live well with their disabilities. From early morning fitness circuits in The Wellness Center, to themed weekend trips at scenic Camp Letts, to weekly therapeutic group art classes, to packed dance floors at CLUB1111, to hearty Thanksgiving lunches leading up to the holiday, The League works hard to improve and enrich the quality of life.
I hope that by reminiscing on 2025, you will appreciate the positive momentum that a new year can offer you, and The League. Together, we are able to show up in meaningful ways by being present, remaining authentic, and always learning, just like Charnette. Please join us as we approach our centennial anniversary and carry on the important work that began in 1927.
Sincerely,
|
