MANDEL JCC OF THE PALM BEACHES presents the following programming:

JAMIE BRENT AUTHOR TALK: GILT
Wednesday, AUGUST 3 at 7:30 pm ET
Virtual event; $10 per household, RSVP required

The Palvin family built an empire on love. As the first jewelers to sell diamond rings exclusively for proposals, they start a tradition that has defined engagements ever since. But when an ill-fated publicity stunt pits the three Palvin sisters against one another for a famous family jewel, their bond is broken. No ordinary diamond ring, the Electric Rose splinters the sisters, leaving one unlucky in love, one escaping to the shores of Cape Cod, and the other, ultimately, dead.

THE KING WAS A MENSCH,
Tracing Elvis Presley's Jewish roots

Locked away in a crate for several decades until its recent public unveiling, a grave marker in Memphis revealed a little-known fact about one of America’s most iconic figures of the 20th century. Elvis Presley, the King of Rock & Roll, had Jewish roots.

In this highly virtual visual presentation, travel writer Dan Fellner will take you to Elvis’ birthplace in Mississippi and to the Graceland mansion in Memphis, to uncover the secrets of Elvis’ surprising connection to Judaism. Mark the 45th anniversary of Elvis’ death with this fascinating glimpse into his life and the multiculturalism that inspired his music.
