Can you believe that we have 30 Residents in the shelter as of Monday!?!?!
9 Moms are taking classes, getting certifications and working hard to make a better life for the 21 children living with them. It is truly an encouraging, heartwarming and energizing thing to see life-transformation in these families right before my eyes. I have done street outreach for years and always loved to be able to give life sustaining support and help connect people to services to ultimately help them get into housing.
Shelter From the Storm Ministries allows families to take it far beyond what I had ever hoped for while I was meeting people who were homeless on the street or at the day shelter where I worked before. Our strategic plan lays out dozens of ways we can offer families the opportunity to thrive when they leave our transitional living house.
It makes my heart happy to see women and children go from struggling and sleeping in a vehicle or on the street and feeling sick, exhausted and just barely surviving to looking healthy, with big smiles on their faces and filled with joy, hope and excitement for their futures. There is SO much to be grateful for here.
