Texas schools to keep mask mandate unless local trustees vote to eliminate the requirement
The Texas Education Agency announced that masks are still required in Texas public schools unless local school boards decide otherwise.
Texas teachers, child care workers now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine
The Texas Department of State Health Services announced that all school staff, Head Start program staff, and child care staff are eligible for vaccines “effective immediately.” This follows President Biden’s federal directive that all educators and child care workers receive at least one vaccination shot by the end of March.
Texas schools won’t lose state funding this academic year for coronavirus attendance declines
Governor Greg Abbott and education officials announced that the state will extend a provision to fully fund school districts despite enrollment declines. Funding will be based on attendance projections from before the pandemic, and schools will still need to maintain or increase levels of on-campus attendance.
