When Make-A-Wish
® New Jersey CEO Tom Weatherall came to us last year, he had a specific goal in mind. Mr. Weatherall had already led the organization through unprecedented growth, including the design and construction of its headquarters, the
Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place in Monroe Township. This 20,000 square-foot facility is the only one of its kind, a magical environment that is free of limitations, confinement, and stress where children with critical illnesses can experience the imaginative possibilities of a wish. The Wishing Place opened in December 2011, the result of an extraordinarily successful capital campaign that surpassed its goal and posted the largest gift in the history of the national Make-A-Wish
® Foundation at that time.
Mr. Weatherall knew, however, that he could take the organization to even higher levels of success. His vision was to recruit a multi-talented executive who could manage the day-to-day responsibilities of this significantly expanded operation. This would allow him to continue to work on building and stewarding relationships with key New Jerseyans, people who would be essential to the future of the Make-A-Wish
® mission in the Garden State. We were fortunate to take on the task of finding the right person for the job, and assisting in establishing the first Chief of Staff for Make-A-Wish
® New Jersey – Chris Bogusz.
When we met Chris, we were pretty sure we had our "right-fit" leader for this particular role. Chris brought with him experience from The Walt Disney Company and Eden Autism. His professionalism, demonstrated leadership skills, and passion for mission sealed the deal. Chris has now been the Chief of Staff for Make-A-Wish
® New Jersey for nearly a year, and it is already becoming clear that with his help, passion and expertise, the organization is moving closer to its vision of ensuring that every eligible child experiences the power of a wish.
