Expanding arts opportunities for R.I. veterans

A shout out to the Providence Clemente Veterans Initiative (PCVI) and Operation Stand Down RI for a $25,000 Creative Forces Community Engagement Grant given to PCVI by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Mid-America Arts Alliance. Only 48 organizations nationwide received the grant. See the directory for a complete list of recipients and projects.

The 2026 Creative Forces grant will be used to support the PCVI’s work with veterans using drama, creative writing, storytelling, and the visual arts by partnering with Providence’s Trinity Repertory Co., Providence Athenaeum and RISD Museum. Each year Trinity actors join them for dramatic readings and discussions of plays that reflect on the experience of war and homecoming.
