RE-FORMING OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, WITH THE EARTH, & WITH EACH OTHER
Peace to you,

The past month at Holden has been filled with cross-country skiing, igloo building and igloo pinhole cameras, Women's Retreat, a transition to 24 hour boiler stoking to keep buildings warm in lower temperatures, lower-than-average hydro power, and the snowfall count reaching 200 inches. In the days and weeks to come, we will celebrate Sun Over Buckskin Day (the day when the sun rises above the peak of Buckskin again), welcome filmmakers and guests for showings at the Holden Village Film Festival, and invite artists to explore and engage with the wilderness during Arts in the Cascades!

We hope you enjoy these stories and images from the past month at Holden!

VILLAGE LIFE
WOMEN'S RETREAT
Guests came from near and far for Women's Retreat the second weekend of February. Women’s Retreat was filled with sessions and classes with former Washington state poet laureate Elizabeth Austen (pictured), Concordia College Campus Pastor Elly McHan, Village Pastor Melinda Pupillo, Global Consultant for Training with Restorative Arts Mylinda Baits, acupuncturist Karin Holt, Village Artist Emilie Bouvier, and more! Held each February, Women’s Retreat is a space for women to step back, find renewal, and celebrate sisterhood through intentional conversation, art, music, and reflection. Thank you for joining us in the Village!
OPERATIONS
ART STUDIO GETS AN UPDATE
Volunteer carpenters have spent the last few weeks removing a wall in the Art Studio to create a more open space with as much natural light as possible. The middle room of the Art Studio, also known as the sewing room, will now house several of the larger looms. Wider doorways between the three rooms will allow Villagers to come and go with ease and provide space to move around the tables and looms, as well as improving the ventilation and light to the whole studio. Some looms have been rearranged to give weavers a view of the Pottery Studio while they work. Join us this summer to experience the refreshed look of the Art Studio!
DOWNLAKE
GREETINGS FROM THE DOWNLAKE STAFF!
In an effort to answer questions about the Holden B&B and its history accurately and completely, we are seeking the assistance of the Holden network. Do you have photos, stories that could jotted down and sent via mail or email, or any documentation of downlake events or activities? Our current Downlake Lead is very interested in compiling a brief history of Holden's downlake presence. Thanks for any help you can give to this project! Questions and correspondence can be sent to:
