Over the past few weeks, we have enjoyed the wave of energy from May Youth Weekend visitors, celebrated the last day of school with kickball and dodgeball, and enjoyed the annual Rhubarb Festival with delicious baked goods and more. Several barge deliveries of food arrived, a wave of warm weather allowed for afternoons in hammocks by the creek, and deer have begun to bring their new fawns to the Village. The first week of summer programming has arrived!

FOOD SERVICE
BARGE DAY: STOCKING UP TO FEED THE VILLAGE
The community came together to chain approximately 30,000 pounds of food over several "Barge Days" in May. The dry lockers and kitchen are stocked with flour, canned foods, and other dry goods for the summer! We chained boxes and bags, jugs and cans from pallets into food lockers. Several hours and dozens of upbeat tunes later, the kitchen is ready to cook up some delicious meals this summer!
OPERATIONS
GARBO DOME HAS MOVED!
Previously located in the in the west garage, Garbo Dome has been moved to the east garage on the second level. The west garage was originally designed to provide easier access for school buses to park, especially during the winter months when there is limited road space due to snow. Buses that had previously been parked in the west garage started to carry a not-so-pleasant compost aroma, but since Garbo has moved, they will again be parked in the west garage, along with other miscellaneous storage.
VILLAGE LIFE
SUMMER REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Experience the rhythms of summertime in the Village! Registration is open for visits through October 31, 2019. Weeks are filling up quickly--register soon to ensure that you can join us this summer. If your favorite week is full, don't hesitate to join our waiting list. Be a part of Holden's summer community and join us for sessions with renowned teaching faculty , vibrant programming, a time for rest and renewal, access to incredible hiking in the beautiful North Cascades, and more. We look forward to welcoming you to the Village!

PROGRAMMING
THIS SUMMER IN NARNIA
This summer's Narnia children's programming will be more "place-based," with the hopes that Narnia will focus on being at Holden and experiencing what the environment around the Village has to offer. The Narnia team looks forward to spending lots of time outside in nature with the kids and providing the opportunity for children to fall in love with being outdoors. Think walks to 10 Mile or the Ball Field, nature-based crafts, time to discover spirituality through mindfulness- and movement-based activities, and outdoor play time (both structured and unstructured) to encourage kids to make up their own games and be creative.

Middle school and high school programming also continues this summer with movies, hikes, dance parties, time in the Pool Hall, and more!

This year, Holden Village has again been filled with the spirit that has carried this place apart for decades. Music, laughter, and community fill the Village, as well as thought-provoking conversations led by renowned teaching faculty from around the world. Thousands of guests come to experience the rhythms of the Village each year. It is our hope that Holden Village may continue as a place for civil conversation, for learning to listen deeply to one another, and for finding hope in a fearful world. Registration fees do not fully cover the cost of maintaining a Village community of learning, worship, hospitality, and celebration. Your generous gifts ensure engaging summer conversations. Your gift will set us on firm financial footing for this summer's programming and beyond and  help ensure that our rhythms remain for generations to come!
