Grading work got underway last week at the site of the upcoming permanent facility for allcove Beach Cities at 1272 Beryl Street in Redondo Beach.

Dear Neighbor,

As part of Beach Cities Health District’s efforts to keep the community informed about the construction projects taking place on our campus, I am writing to let you know about some of the work being done on the BCHD Campus:

- 514 N. Prospect Avenue Campus & Parking Lot: Borings will be drilled on Tuesday, June 30, and Wednesday, July 1. Work will be done in the back parking areas.

- 1272 Beryl Street Lot: Grading work has begun on the site for the permanent home of allcove Beach Cities.

- 510 N. Prospect Building: Tenant improvements are underway, with work being done on the main floor by LA Jewish Health, a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) provider, and BCHD’s Center for Health & Fitness (CHF) doing renovations on the top floor.

For more information about the work being done on the BCHD Campus, please visit www.bchd.org/construction. On that page, you can sign up to receive updates about the various BCHD projects underway. We also encourage community members to contact us with any construction-related concerns or issues by using the feedback form available on that page.

510 N. Prospect Ave. Building: PACE, CHF Work Underway; Entrance is now on the Building's South Side

Demolition has officially begun on the top and main floors of the 510 Prospect Avenue building. Crews have been on-site removing interior structures to prepare for upcoming renovations. The 510 building is the future home of our Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) provider (main floor), and our Center for Health & Fitness (top floor).

Effective immediately, visitors to the 510 Building should park in the 512 parking structure adjacent to the building, and should plan to use the south entrance to access the building. The north entrance is closed due to the tenant improvements being done.

We will share additional updates as work progresses.

BCHD Campus Update:

In May, the Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) Board of Directors voted to authorize CEO Tom Bakaly to execute an Agreement to Enter into a Ground Lease with Sunrise Senior Living, marking a significant milestone in the redevelopment of BCHD’s former South Bay Hospital site.

The proposed agreement follows nearly a decade of planning and public engagement focused on reimagining the former hospital building at 514 N. Prospect Avenue into a wellness destination that supports the community with programs and services for healthy aging, intergenerational connection, and provides long-term financial sustainability for the health district.

“This decision to move forward with Sunrise reflects years of community input, strategic planning, and evaluation,” said Bakaly. “The Healthy Living Campus vision is centered on supporting the health and wellness needs of our whole community, while creating a sustainable future for BCHD and expanding services for older adults.”

Plans call for a fully licensed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE), offering independent living, assisted living, and specialized memory care as part of a broader continuum of care for older adults.
