United Against Hate Program

Dear Beachwood Community,

We are pleased to announce an important event for our district. In partnership with the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, Beachwood City Schools will present the United Against Hate program on October 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Beachwood High School Auditorium (25100 Fairmount Blvd.). This event is free and open to the public. RSVP here.

The United Against Hate program is designed to help communities nationwide learn how to identify, report, and prevent acts of hate. Through interactive discussions and videos, participants will explore scenarios that highlight the impact of hate and bias on communities. Facilitators will guide participants as they reflect upon actionable steps to address these issues. The program comes in response to student requests for practical strategies to engage in civil discourse and to resolve conflicts in today’s increasingly polarized climate. Through this collaboration with the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, we are able to bring the community together to learn how to take actionable steps toward promoting understanding and belonging for all.

The United Against Hate program is part of a nationwide effort, launched by Attorney General Merrick B. Garland in 2022 to address hate and bias. On October 10, we also will be joined by the Department of Justice’s Community Relations Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, and Beachwood Schools’ legal counsel.

This event builds upon the success of the School S.P.I.R.I.T. program, which was led by the Community Relations Service on September 12. During this full-day session, 50 Beachwood High School students engaged in collaborative problem-solving discussions about their experiences. They will share their insights during the United Against Hate program.

We look forward to seeing you on October 10 at 6:30 p.m. as we work together to foster a welcoming community for all. Please RSVP using this form so we know how many people will be in attendance. We will provide shuttle transportation if parking is going to be limited.

Sincerely,
