Career Skills That Matter!

Are You Feeling the Pressure of the Job Market? Check Out These Great Tips!

Pamela Skillings from Big Interview has shared with us three (3) great tips to help job seekers land offers in today's competitive market.

  • Track your wins in real time
  • Keep a record of your of your accomplishments! These are measurable results that show your progress that you can speak to in an interview.
  • This isn’t just about job searching. Your success inventory becomes a career tool you can use in other big moments such as discussing a promotion, negotiating a raise, annual performance reviews, and manager check-ins.

  • Learn to negotiate early in your career
  • Negotiating is not rude. In fact, most hiring managers are prepared for it and often leave room in the offer for a conversation.
  • Negotiation is NOT just about salary. Things such as start date, title, responsibility, project scope, remote flexibility, PTO, professional development, and growth opportunities are all things that can be negotiated.

  • Network Relentlessly
  • Build gradual, genuine, warm relationships rooted in curiosity and real interest.
  • People love to talk about their work and share what they know, but they don’t like to feel obligated. Don’t expect strangers to get you into job interviews just like that. LinkedIn is a great place to shoot someone a DM to inquire about if a company is expanding their team or looking to hire new talent!

As always, a great way to get ready for an upcoming interview is to practice! Get started with practicing your interview skills by utilizing Big Interview today.
