The Companies

Tri-County Transportation and Health Ride Plus are providers of general and special education student transportation and paratransit services in central and western Pennsylvania. The Companies were founded in 1964 and are headquartered in Northern Cambria, PA. Tri-County Transportation has strong, long-term relationships with local school districts spanning decades.

The Deal

Beacon Mobility (“Beacon”) has invested in Tri-County Transportation and Health Ride Plus to further accelerate the organic growth of the company and realize synergies with its existing operations. The Companies enable Beacon to expand its footprint in Pennsylvania’s large transportation market, near previous acquisitions Easton and Palmeri, with growth opportunities already identified in nearby districts.

The Thesis

Audax completed its investment in Beacon in May 2018. Audax has invested in the company’s organic initiatives and expanded its service offerings, growing from a Massachusetts-based provider of transportation services for special needs students to a national specialty transportation platform operating in 22 states across the U.S. Consistent with the original thesis to build the consolidator of choice in specialty transportation services, Tri-County Transportation and Health Ride Plus mark Beacon’s 17th and 18th acquisitions under Audax ownership.
