Relationship, Relationship...
With Rev. Lisa McDaniel-Hutchings
"The truth is this: If there is no justice, there will be no peace...If we cannot bring justice into the small circle of our own individual lives, we cannot hope to bring justice to the world."  How might we build relationships that bring justice to our localities and our state? Rev. Lisa McDaniel-Hutchings with UU Justice AZ (UUJAZ) will be our guest speaker.

~ REI Building Project Update ~

Our building plans have been approved, and the permit has been issued by the city. We received that information this morning (3/21). We have also received the lighting permit. There were no major changes from the original concept plan for Option B.

Next Monday we will be meeting with Loven Contracting. Loven has been busy lining up subcontractors for our project, and negotiating the pricing with them. If all goes as planned, we should have up to date information for you at the town hall on March 31, 2019.

~ Social Justice Allies (SJA) ~

CALENDAR ALERT: The special SJA meeting this Sunday is ON! As reported on the front page of this Weekly E-news issue, the necessary permitting documents expected from the City of Flagstaff are not yet prepared, so the Building Expansion Team (BET) has had to postpone this Sunday's town hall meeting. While that delay is unfortunate, it means SJA can proceed with our meeting following the service.

This is all good for SJA because we can take advantage of Rev. Lisa
McDaniel-Hutchings' visit to Flagstaff: She will be our guest minister, presenting a sermon titled, "Relationship, Relationship...". Following the service, Rev. Lisa, Executive Director of UUJAZ

(UU Justice Arizona) network, will meet with SJA to share with us current statewide UU social justice efforts and how we might best tap into what other Arizona UUs have learned. We are especially eager for her insights into effective strategies in support of education in Arizona, a recently added focus for SJA's work.
All are welcome, as usual: Beacon members, friends and visitors! Snacks provided.

Thank You to Building and Grounds Workers

Kudos to everyone who came out to provide loving care to our property. Here are some of the things we did last Saturday: Installed the rest of the racks and holders on the chairs in the sanctuary, cleaned the roof gutters, cleaned the playground and patio, raked the front yard pine needles, dusted and cleaned window sills, removed cobwebs, fixed the toilet paper holder in the east bathroom, replaced the furnace filter, swept and mopped the floor, and other minor things.

Thank you to Dennis, Dan, Kevin P, Andrea, Skip, Rich, Roz, Anne, and Theresa, and to Gus for funding breakfast items!
