HOUR OF CODE | VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Hello Beagle Parents,

The library will be hosting "Hour of Code" for all Rockwell students the week of December 16th-20th. What does this look like? When students come to the library for class that week, we will have laptops set up for them to do some simple coding games that are publicly available from the Hour of Code website ( check it out here ).

We are in need of parent volunteers to come and help our students be successful. There is no coding experience needed-just extra hands to help our students who need assistance. If you would like to volunteer, check out the SignUp Genius here.

This will be our second year offering this fun activity. Thank you in advance for helping out students learn!

FIFTH GRADE PARENT NIGHT
at Redmond Middle School
Tuesday, January 14

Dear Families of Future RMS Grizzlies,

On Tuesday, January 14th, Redmond Middle School will be hosting a family night for the families of all current 5th graders who will be attending RMS next year. This event starts at 6:30pm. This will be a great chance to see and tour Redmond Middle, meet the administration and counseling staff, and have questions answered. This evening is geared toward parents/guardians only. There will also be Spanish interpreters present at this event.

Our 5th grade students will be visiting Redmond Middle this spring for an orientation activity. The student leadership at RMS puts together a wonderful program that includes student led tours, an opportunity for 5th graders to ask RMS students questions, and fun games and trivia.  They will be able to meet the administration, counselors, and 6th grade teachers. More information will come later for this event.

We look forward to meeting you on January 14th.

Thank you!

MEMBERSHIP NEWS

Hello Beagle Families!

Thank you for participating in our membership contest!  There was a tie! Ms. Gentry and Mrs. Honkawa each have 7 kids whose parents are members. They will each receive a $49 Amazon gift card for their classroom.

In other membership news, your membership chair attended a tutorial on Saturday on getting those membership cards out, and you should see those cards soon.  Also, the membership contest showed in no uncertain terms the problems with the current directory system.  Your PTA board members are brainstorming solutions.

Thank you for your patience.

ESSAYWSPTA ESSAY CONTEST

This statewide essay contest explores the important and varied influencers in the lives and education of children - from the children's perspective. Every day children are exposed to a variety of people and each one has an opportunity to influence the path a child decides to take. Whether it is someone that sparks an interest in a new topic, helps them work through a problem, shapes the kind of person they want to become by modeling behavior, simply listens to them, or any number of other actions, this is the platform for students to share their appreciation.

The application deadline is March 1.

You can learn more about the contest here.

YEARBOOK ORDERS!

If you didn't order your yearbook when you completed your First Day Packet online, you can do so by going to LifeTouch and using Yearbook ID # 4886520.

Also, we're still looking for a few more parents to help create the yearbook. Work from home on your schedule to organize all the wonderful photos we're getting! Please email Abigail Welborn ([email protected]) to volunteer.
