Interim VP of Academic Enrichment

A Final Matching Reminder and Fundraising Update

Before the break, we ended our Read-a-Thon with a total of 64,649 minutes read and $4,375 raised.  Thanks to all of your readers and sponsors who donated to our school!

Also due to your generous support of the Annual Beagle Contribution (ABC), we are happy to say that the Rockwell PTSA has met its ABC goal for the 2018/19 school year.  That means that your Rockwell PTSA can fully support planned funding requests like "Class Field Trips", "Class Magazine subscriptions", the "School Musical", expanding "Math Night" to "STEM Night", the "Science Van", "Salmon in the Classroom" and the "Toymaker"(a hands on STEM classroom program) to just name a few.

With that said, we have NOT yet met our MATCHING goal for the 2018/19 school year.  Corporate matching funds are free money for our kids so if you haven't already, please apply through your employer to match your ABC.  It only takes a few minutes to complete the form!

Matching funds are used to approve unanticipated additional Academic Enrichment requests made to the PTA.  By having extra funds on hand, our PTA can easily approve these requests which directly benefit all of our kids.

For any questions in regards to Corporate Matching, please direct to our Rockwell PTA Treasurer, Sheila Gruber.  Sheila can help recreate a donation receipt annotating your donation to the "Annual Beagle Contribution" if you have lost the original.  She is also the primary contact for your company if they have questions about the nonprofit status of the Rockwell PTA.

I challenge each of you that has access to matching funds through your company and has not yet requested them to get this DONE this week!

Thanks so much,
Rockwell Parent and VP of Fundraising
Upcoming FUNdraising Events

Here is what to expect for the rest of the school year in regards to Fundraising.

Look for the following Community Engagement events:

"Spirit Wear" sales return today, Jan 28th and run through Feb 15th.  "Dine Out for Rockwell" at MOD Pizza in Redmond is scheduled for Feb 7th.  "Box Tops" returns Feb 4th-8th and "School Pool" comes back again in May.  All of these events earn money for our Rockwell PTA when you participate.

For example, if you want to purchase a shirt with the Rockwell Logo on it, purchase it through the "Spirit Wear" link (provided below) and a small portion of the proceeds will come back to our PTA.  Order lunch or dinner at the Redmond MOD Pizza on Thursday, Feb 7th and earn money for our school.  Also, clip those pink Box Tops off products you already use and when turned in at school, it will earn money for our PTA.  Finally, turn in a completed and signed School Pool calendar and guess what?  Our PTA receives $5 for each calendar and your student will also receive a prize from the City of Redmond.  In other words, all of the upcoming Fundraisers are participation activities that access "free" money for our kids.  What could be easier?

Thanks again to all of you that generously support our fundraising events.  Whether it is a little or a lot, it all means that our PTA remains fully funded to support academic enrichment at Rockwell.  Investing in our kids is the best investment to reach the next level.

Thank you!

REDMOND MIDDLE SCHOOL Info Night
Tuesday 1/29 @ 6:30pm

Dear Parents,

On Tuesday, January 29th Redmond Middle School will be hosting a parent night for all current 5th graders who will be attending RMS next year.  This event starts at RMS at 6:30pm.  This will be a great chance to see and tour Redmond Middle, meet the administration and counseling staff, and have any questions answered for you. This evening is geared toward parents only. RMS counselors will be visiting the 5th grade classrooms in early February to register students for their middle school classes.

Our 5th grade students will be visiting Redmond Middle this spring for an orientation activity. The student leadership at RMS has put together a wonderful formal program that includes student lead tours, Q & A with a student panel, and fun games and trivia. They too will be able to meet the admin, counselors, and some of the 6th grade teachers. This event is scheduled for June 13, 2019.  More information will come later for this event.

PTA MEN'S ESSAY CONTEST
Men Making a Difference
deadline is March 1

This statewide essay contest explores the important and varied contributions that men make in the lives and education of children - from the children's perspective.

All men involved in a child's life - fathers, uncles, grandfathers, brothers, step-fathers, mentors, neighbors, pastors, coaches, and friends - impact the children they care about. Research clearly shows that male involvement positively influences academic success at all levels of schooling - preschool through college. When male figures are involved with students' schooling, they enjoy school more and perform better in and out of school.

You can find out more about the contest (including guidelines and grade-level entry forms  here.

The application deadline is March 1st .
