SBA ASSESSMENT SCHEDULE

Rockwell begins our SBA assessments this week in grades 3, 4, and 5. No extra preparation is required for the SBA, but you can help your child be their best by making sure they are at school ON TIME and with a healthy breakfast in their tummies, well-rested from a good night's sleep. We try to keep stress to a minimum as we know some kids worry about these tests; please help them realize that while we do want them to try hard, SBA is also just one indicator of student success. We, like you, want to help grow healthy, well-rounded, kind, academically prepared people for the years ahead.

Testing dates are as follows:
May 22: Grade 3 Math  Computer Adaptive Task
May 23: Grade 3 Math Performance Task

SCHOOLPOOL IS BACK!

The weather is finally beautiful in the Pacific North West and what better way for students to take advantage of it by walking and biking to school!

One of the benefits of SchoolPool is to reduce the amount of traffic around Rockwell. You may want to create a Carpool or Walking Bus in your neighborhood and share the responsibility of driving/walking students to school with other friends and neighbors.  Or start your day getting a little exercise in while walking with your student.

Don't forget to sign and send in your students' school pool calendar.  They are being collected now through the end of the month!

Thank you all for participating!

fieldVOLUNTEERS NEEDED: FIELD DAY
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14

Many parent/guardian volunteers are needed for this special school activity. We need your help!

Event Hosts  will receive all materials needed to set up and manage one field event station with student volunteers. Hosts will offer students encouragement and praise for their participation, and assist with station clean up. Host check-in will be at 8:30 a.m. in front of the school. Younger siblings are welcome to accompany hosts, just let us know so that we can help you select an appropriate station. All hosts are required to have a current background check on file with LWSD, and so when responding to volunteer, please note if you need a form. Also, let us know if you would like to be paired at your event station with an English-speaking volunteer.

Water Balloon Fillers   will receive 30 small balloons and nozzle via Kid Mail the week prior to field day, and will need to return the filled balloons to school with your child in the morning on Wednesday, June 14 . Drop containers will be located in front of the school.

Contact us with questions. Thank you!

As we welcome the new Board, we must bid farewell to a few 2016-2017 Board members.

With their tireless contribution, leadership and generosity, we achieved many goals on behalf of Rockwell students and families.

Membership grew to 10% above last year.  Pass the Hat and Matching donations funded all of our projected events, parent education and academic enrichment programs. The cast of Shrek Jr. flexed their artistic muscles and entertained sold out audiences.  The minutes of every meeting were carefully recorded and archived to ensure our piece of beagle history is well documented. The website/Bugle/Facebook provided weekly communication and included surveys to obtain feedback from you... the members! And lastly, the budget accounted for every dollar in/out and yet- determined that what the PTA Board brings to Rockwell is priceless!  Thank you so very much for all each of you have accomplished during your tenure.
