The Fourth Grade is working on a service project to help others in our community!  We are collecting non-perishable food items for families in need.  While any non-perishable items are welcome, our particular focus will be kid-friendly fare such as macaroni and cheese, crackers, popcorn, cereal bars, applesauce, instant noodles, fruit snacks, etc.
Our food drive will run  October 16 through 27.  You'll soon see bins appearing around school, where you can deposit donated food items.  While this is a fourth grade project, we would be delighted if other students and families would like to help too. And please note, participation is completely optional.  If you can help,  please do!

Hello Rockwell families,
The PTA  works in classrooms and communities, but we also advocate to decision-makers, locally and in Olympia, for the well-being and education of all children. During the annual Legislative Assembly, delegates decide the public policy positions that guide state and local advocacy work for Washington State PTA and its associated local PTAs and councils. The Legislative Committee and WSPTA staff have been actively planning the 2017 Legislative Assembly, which will be held on October 20-21 at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma, WA.

We would like your input on what issues are important to you and our community. This survey is available for you  to provide feedback on the four  new long-term Resolutions and 7 short-term Legislative Issues that will be debated and voted on at Legislative Assembly.  A PDF version is available on the website. We recommend that you check out the full text of the  Resolutions and Issues Guide .

Please email you survey back to me or contact me with any questions:

10/31, 2:00 PM

Dear Rockwell Families,

Greetings from the office! Halloween is just around the corner, and we will continue our tradition of the annual Rockwell Halloween Parade. ...And you are cordially invited to join us in the fun! This year's parade will be on Tuesday, October 31, at 2:00 PM, and it will run for approximately 20 minutes. We'll move into our classroom parties following the parade.
Here are some important reminders to help us keep our parade safe and fun:
  • Families are absolutely welcome to join us for the parade. We will have clearly marked areas for spectators along the route.
  • We will hold the parade outdoors unless the weather dictates that we move inside.
  • We will have an area for you to store strollers at the front vestibule of our school during the event.
  • Thank you for helping us distribute the crowd evenly along the route - you will be able to see all students pass by from any position along the route.
Our Beagles are invited to bring costumes for the parade. Thank you for observing these rules:
  • Costumes must be brought (not worn) to school. Students will have about 15 minutes to prepare for the parade.
  • Costumes should be worn over a child's clothing if possible.
  • Students will be allowed to apply face paint, but will have a little time to do so. Staff will not be able to assist with face painting.
  • All costumes must be appropriate for school and all ages here.
  • No hairspray or other aerosols at school, please.
  • No blood or fake weapons of any kind are allowed.
  • Masks that restrict vision may not be worn, neither may students wear masks that will scare our younger students ("Scream" masks, etc.).
  • Teachers will have final say on whether a costume is appropriate for school. If your child is unsure, please have them check with their teacher beforehand.
One last note: if you do not wish for your child to participate in the parade and celebrations, please let us know, so we may plan alternate activities.
Thanks, everyone, and here's to a fun Halloween parade! If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email or give me a call at school.
Kind Regards,
Michael Clark. Rockwell Principal

to overcome fears!
