OCTOBER IS WALK TO SCHOOL MONTH

Redmond SchoolPool is excited to partner with Norman Rockwell, encouraging students to walk, bike, carpool, or ride the school bus to get to school October 1-31st.

How does it work?

1. Each student will receive a calendar to bring home today. Your student should keep the calendar until October 31.

2. Every day that your student walks, bikes, carpools (with another student) or rides the bus to school (at least 1 time), mark the calendar.

3. Wednesday October 10th, walk to school with your student(s). Be sure to stop by the flag pole to receive a special give a way and meet with Special Guests!

4. Parents should complete the back of the calendar with contact information so they can receive rewards for their students.

5. Please turn calendars in to the main office by Friday, November 2nd.

6. Each returned, completed card earns the PTA $5, up to $1,500 for the school!  (This is free money for our school enrichment programs!)

Thank you for contributing to the success of Redmond SchoolPool. Together we will reduce traffic congestion, raise money for your school, and promote healthy habits.

VISION & HEARING SCREENING
Volunteers Needed!
Thursday 10/4

Our annual vision and hearing screening will be held this on Thursday (10/4)

If your student wears corrective lenses, glasses, or a hearing aid, please be sure to send them to school that day with these items.

We could use just a few more volunteers that day to help things run smoothly.  I expect the event to run from the start of school until just before lunch.

** Many thanks to Blazing Bagels for providing food for our volunteers **

If you'd like to lend a hand, please contact me at kareninwashington@yahoo.com.

Hope to see you there!

UNITY DAY IS COMING (Volunteers Needed)!
October 24

Unity Day is a nationwide celebration that shows that we are united against bullying and stand for kindness, acceptance and inclusion. We are planning several projects for Unity Day this year and I could use parent help with a few of them.

Kindness Photo Booth:
  • 2-3 parent volunteers
  • Wednesday, October 24
  • 11:30 - 1:20 (during all lunch recesses)
  • We will provide polaroid cameras, film and photo booth props
  • Parent volunteers will be responsible for taking pictures and giving them to students

Handprint Display:
  • 4-6 parent volunteers
  • Wednesday, October 24
  • After school, 2:00pm - finish (approx. 2 hours, hopefully faster!)
  • Students will be making and cutting out handprints during class. Volunteers will assemble and glue the handprints into a giant beagle paw print and hang it in the main entry way.
  • All materials will be provided
Sign-up to help out for one or both of the above activities right here.

Parent Donations: We are accepting donations of film for our Unity Day Kindness Photo Booth! Please turn film into the main office by Tuesday, October 23. Film must be compatible with Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 camera. Film 2 Pack (20 photos) available  here on Amazon. Our goal is to have enough film for 600 photos, so the more the merrier! If you plan on donating film, please sign up here so we know how many packs we'll be receiving.

Thank you!

ANNUAL BEAGLE CONTRIBUTION (ABC)

Norman Rockwell PTA has one primary fundraiser a year through our Annual Beagle Contribution (ABC).  The amount of your support will determine what additional education programs and activities like DreamBox/Supplemental Math, the School Musical, STEM programs such as the Science Van and Math Night will be fully funded.  Thanks so much to those of you that have already given!  We really appreciate your generous support.  For those that still wish to give, the time to act is NOW

For all of you that have donated to the ABC, please remember to submit a request through your employer to have your contribution matched.  Mark it on your "To Do" list for this week and get it done!  This is "free" money to support programs for our kids.

Come to our first PTA General Membership meeting of the year this Thursday, Oct 4th to hear how our PTA funding is going.

Thank you!

HERITAGE NIGHT | SPONSOR A COUNTRY/BOOTH
Thursday, November 29

To discover, connect, and celebrate the many different cultures and countries that represent our students, family, and faculty at Rockwell.

Last year, more than 15 cultures came together at Heritage Night to display the strength of our school community. Would you be interested in strengthening this community even more by weaving your cultural heritage into our melting pot quilt?

Approximately 15 "Country of Origin" tables/booths are available for anyone interested in participating. Decorate your tri-fold (provided to you) with fun, cultural and interesting facts about the country you're representing. Sharing music, games, artifacts and traditional clothing is also encouraged.

Please visit this link for fun ways to volunteer.

This years event is on Thursday, November 29th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Redmond High School (Cafeteria).
