Night on the Town was a Success!
Over $10,000 Raised for Youth Mission Trips
Special Thanks to All Who Helped

Last Saturday, on February 9th, the youth hosted their annual Night on the Town dinner and fundraiser. Over 102 tickets were sold, 28 items auctioned, and a record $10,000 raised. We want to thank all of the youth members who participated in making the event the success it was. Additionally, we need to thank Mr. Ron Darcy and Mr. Brian Jones for donating the cost of the food to reduce our expenses. The efforts of Jonathan Sampson and Jana Jones were invaluable, thank you both for your efforts in organizing this important event.

The funds will now go to support youth in participating in their summer camp & mission trip. We are excited that so many will have the opportunity to go thanks to the generosity of our Bear Creek community.

VCI - It's Happening!
What Happened This Week

Every few weeks we want to highlight a VCI team and their progress in fulfilling our prescriptions. This week, we want you to know about Team #2!

The VCI Prescription Team # 2, which addresses Hospitality and Assimilation, is working with our consultant, Jan Floro, and the staff to improve our guests' and congregation's experience on campus. The team is working with our Communications Director to produce new guest materials as well as with the office staff to address our guest registration card and attendance registration.
On February 11, the team held their second workshop with Consultant Jan Floro, from Grow Church Now, to learn of her experience a first time Bear Creek guest.   The input from Jan and the team will be used to strengthen our welcoming ministry -- vital for BCUMC's future growth.
We want YOU to be a part of the team!! Everyone is invited to come to the Saturday, March 30th workshop entitled "Every Person, Every Sunday." The objective of the workshop is to empower each person in our church to create a culture of hospitality that will reflect the love of Christ to anyone who steps on our campus. We hope to see you in the Fellowship Hall from 9-12. Come and be prepared to be inspired!!

Breaking Chains Update
What Happened This Week

It is hard to believe that we are already half way through our journey to financial peace for everyone at Bear Creek UMC.  We've learned all about the seven Baby Steps and the importance of having a financial plan - a.k.a. a budget or cash flow plan.  Now the class focus changes to learning strategies to live out this new plan - starting with making wise purchases. This week, we learned all about the excellent marketing and advertising techniques we are bombarded with every day. We also learned that we need to stick to our plan and not become distracted by great marketing - we must stick to our plan, not the advertisers plan.

Save the Date
On Sunday, March 24 at 10:10am in the FLC Gym we will be celebrating our Breaking Chains journey here at Bear Creek.  There will be food and some great surprises - we want everyone to join us. Stay tuned for more information soon!

"The Way Forward" Report
General Conference Special Session: February 23-26, 2019
St. Louis, Missouri

Bishop evaluates Way Forward plans
Bishop evaluates Way Forward plans

The Council of Bishops has called a Special Session of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church to be held February 23-26, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri. The purpose will be to receive and act on a report from the Commission on a Way Forward based on the recommendations of the Council of Bishops. The 32-member Commission was authorized by General Conference 2016 and appointed by the Council of Bishops to examine paragraphs in The Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality and exploring options to strengthen the unity of the church.

Bishop Jones' Analyses:

Praying Our Way Forward
Join us in Prayer for The United Methodist Church
This prayer movement is in response to the Council of Bishops initiative called "Praying Our Way Forward". We are called to pray for God's leadership to guide us effectively in fulfilling the mission & unity of the church. Since General Conference 2016, our church has experienced conflict & has needed to consider "How can we show God's great love and mercy to one another as we make decisions?"   Prayer is the most significant and positive spiritual thing we can do at this important moment in the history of the United Methodist Church.
Before the Special Session of the General Conference begins in St. Louis on February 23-26, the entire United Methodist family (12 million United Methodists around the world) is called to pray for the 864 delegates & 200 alternates that they may be guided by the Holy Spirit in their conduct, their attitudes, and their decisions. The Committee on Reference has decided 78 petitions have been cleared for consideration aimed at helping The United Methodist Church stay unified despite deep conflict over homosexuality.

Call the church office (281-463-2330) or email Linda Dunn at to schedule your prayer time.
