Beginning 2019: Breaking Chains
Church-Wide Study begins Sunday, January 13, 2019
Sermon Series Accompanies this Study

Beginning in January, we are presenting a church-wide study based on Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University called Breaking Chains! We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God's ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents Biblical, practical steps to move from where you are to where you've dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to become debt free, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more!

The classes are fun and full of hope. The average family has an $8,000 change in position during the nine weeks of classes. Classes start in January, 2019. To find out more information, look for our tables after Sunday services or on the BCUMC website. Free childcare is available!

Breaking Chains - The Wilsons

For Sunday School Classes
Sermon Series Accompanies this Study

For 9 weeks, starting in January, we are encouraged by Pastor Leo to focus our studies on Financial Peace University.
Adult classes that meet on Sunday morning are encouraged to enroll in the FPU classes that are being offered at 10:15 am. We will view the video portion of FPU all together in the sanctuary and then move to our regular classrooms for small group discussion. (Class time would be extended to 11:45.) If your class has a majority of the members attending the Contemporary Worship service, then let us know and we can arrange a 9:30 am class for those wishing to attend that service.
If this does not work for your home-based group, small group meeting at the church, or Sunday school class, there are other format options available.  Contact Nanette Radke at for more information. Watch for updates on times and formats!

New Year, New Faces
An Introduction to People You May Already Know!

Adrianne & Louis Adams-Diaz
We are pleased to announce that Adrianne Adams-Diaz is taking a lead role in the contemporary worship service. Adrianne, who has been a lead singer in the 11:15am worship service for a few years now, will become Director of Contemporary Worship effective January 1, 2019.

Her husband, Louis Adams-Diaz, will also be taking a lead role, sharing the title of Worship Leader of Contemporary Service with a focus on musicians and singers. He comes to us from Bay Harbour UMC, League City where he was Worship Leader. He will be adding his voice and guitar to our stage of talent on Sunday mornings.

Adrianne, in collaboration with Sean Saunders, will complete our music ministry leadership. The two are looking forward to working together in new and exciting ways to unite the church in the spirit of worship through song. This restructuring of roles will unlock new opportunities to enjoy a wide range of music styles during worship services that will appeal to the community around us.

In her own words: "We are excited to build our family here. I want to bring the community together around the church. Our goal is to help create a vision for the contemporary service that matches Bear Creek's vision of being the hands and feet of Christ."

Recently Adrianne sang a solo at our Annual Charge Conference in November. Her youthful and energetic performance made an impression on attendees and gave the music ministry a chance to compliment the traditional setting with a contemporary style.

Her love of Christ and passion for the church reinforce the love of Worship and Praise that is at the heart of Bear Creek United Methodist Church.

Phillis Litton
Our Sunday Receptionist Phillis Litton, began answering our phones in August. She is a retired Katy ISD teacher of 35 years; elementary ages and a reading specialist. She grew up in Tennessee and then Indiana, where she played the piano for her church. She earned her M.S degree from Indiana State University. Her only daughter, who attended our BCUMCS Mother's Day Out, Pre-School, and Kindergarten, also has one daughter. We welcome Phillis, teacher, mother and grandmother, to the Front Desk in the Church Office!

A Heartfelt Than You
Ke'Erron Sims, who has graciously shared his talents with our church since 2017, will be leaving our ranks in pursuit of his already very impressive music career. We are so thankful for his style and contributions to the development of our contemporary culture. No doubt God has big things in store for Ke'Erron, we are so happy to have been a part of his story.
