RMS PTSA Awards 2017-2018
Every year, the RMS PTSA likes to honor a few individuals both volunteers and educators, who have made significant contributions to our school on behalf of the students. You would have seen them around school through the school, admired their dedication to what they do. This is the chance to recognize them and let them know they are appreciated!

You can submit all your nominations, using this form, through email to awards@rmsptsa.org with a subject of "Award Nomination" no later than Thursday, May 3rd 2018  or hand over a sealed envelope with the nominations to the PTSA by the same date.   For each nominee, please submit the appropriate nomination form describing why they should be considered for that award.  The awards committee will use the information you provide as the basis for their decision, so please provide as much detail as possible.  A full list of past recipients can be found here.

Thank you for taking the time to recognize the people who contribute to the RMS community!

RMS PTSA General Meeting: Election & Volunteer Appreciation Event
Please join us on Tuesday, May 8th for the final RMS PTSA General Meeting of the year. Participate in the election of the 2018-2019 Board and 2017-2018 Volunteer Appreciation event. The event will run from 7:00 to 8:30pm and all are welcome, including children.

If you are unable to attend the meeting and are looking to volunteer outside of the elected positions, we are collecting names and interests to pass along to the incoming team, please feel free to email president@rmsptsa.org and let us know how you'd like to be involved next year. Remember, committee chairs must be reappointed on an annual basis.
Support RMS Staff & Students with #2 Pencil Donations
As we head towards the end of the year teachers are finding that their supply of #2 pencils is running low. If you're able to, please donate regular #2 pencils to Redmond Middle School.  There is a collection box in the office. Bonus points if the pencils are pre-sharpened!

KITE STEM Challenge @ RMS
RMS students have an exciting opportunity to raise money for STEM related
programs for our school! The KITE STEM Challenge is a 3-week competition open to all K-12 students within the LWSD. The competition promotes STEM  education while simultaneously encouraging students to get outside and enjoy Kirkland Parks! Learn  more and download the app to  participate in the challenge here

Staff Appreciation Week May 7th - 11th
Our kids couldn't learn what they learn and have the experiences they have without our amazing RMS Staff. In two weeks, we will spoil, celebrate and thank our teachers and staff for all they have done for our kids and families. We have a different activity planned each day that we need your help to pull off!
Please sign up to volunteer, make or bring food and/or sponsor coffee for your favorite staff member.  Click here for more information and to sign-up .

Kids and Race: Changing the Narrative  with Jasen Frelot

Thursday, May 17th, 7:00 - 9:00pm, Redmond Community Center

We are excited to welcome a new speaker to our LWPTSA Council/LWSD Parent Ed program this year on the topic of kids and race! Jasen Frelot will address how parents and educators can empower their children to be successful participants in an increasingly racialized world.
Learn from Jasen how the stories we unintentionally tell our children can have the greatest impact on their racial identity development and steps to empower families to address racial injustice in a loving, sustainable, humble way. Learn how to seize the teachable moments that arise when we least expect them!
Jasen Frelot is a father, early childhood educator, social justice advocate, and co-founder of Kids and Race Seattle, which has been featured in ParentMap magazine and on NPR. We hope you will attend this timely and insightful presentation!
