Snow Make-Up Days
Reminder that June 19 is now a full day of school. Students will get out at 2:40 PM. Our new last day of school will be June 20 and students will be released at 11:10 AM.
Field Day
Our annual “Fun in the Sun” event for students is scheduled for June 18th 11:30-1:30 pm. We are still seeking additional volunteers to help supervise events. Please sign up for extremely short shifts or all three!
Please encourage your student to return any library books and text books ASAP. Deadline for textbooks is June 13. We will be collecting student laptops on June 14. Please remind your student to charge their device the night before and remove any personalization from the device.
2019-2020 School Year
For our returning Grizzlies, mark you calendars for a couple of dates:
Griz Biz: Tuesday, August 20, 2019, this event is for families to pick up and complete paperwork, sign up for sports, open lunch accounts, tour the school, etc. More information will be coming this summer.
Picture Day: All students will have their school picture taken on Friday, September 6, the first week of school. IDs/ASB cards will be issued at this time. Make-ups will be in October. Packets will be available at Griz Biz.
Laptops: Returning students will once again be able to get their devices at Griz Biz. New students will receive their devices the first week of school.
Moving? Are you moving over the summer and your student will not be returning to RMS in the fall? If you have not notified the school yet, please email .

Redmond Middle School PTSA Achieves Platinum Status
The Standards of Excellence Award recognizes local PTAs for the use of best practices of PTA management. Redmond Middle School PTSA was awarded the Platinum Level Standards of Excellence Award for the 2018-2019 school year. This award demonstrates that we are child-focused, responsible to members, knowledgeable, fiscally responsible, involved, and well-trained.

RMS students won awards in WA computer science competition
RMS students won the 1st place in the "Original Design Project" of the 5th WA Middle School Computer Science Competition hosted by Computing For ALL organization. They are Andre Ye and Leo Miao in the 7th grade Quest. They proactively came up with the idea, implemented a prototype and presented in the competition. The host organization specifically featured their project "Scholar: Scraping the Web" on its official website here:

Smarter Balanced Assessment Results 
Results from the spring 2019 Smarter Balanced assessments will be available online on June 21. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) allows the District to access and share these score reports electronically in PDF format. These score reports will be added in Family Access on June 21. Beginning in fall of 2019, paper reports are available only by request as we have moved to complete electronic delivery of the assessment results.
Only SBA ELA and math scores will be available online in June. Science scores will not be available until the fall after OSPI releases those scores.
Core Academic Summer Program registration is now open! 
There are still some remaining spaces for several of our tuition-based summer programs. Openings remain for Drama Camp, Integrated Art/Writing, STEM Camp 3rd/4th grade, Accelerated Alg. I, Accelerated Geometry I and a variety of Core Academic classes. Just a reminder, programs will run July 1 - August 2 and will be held at Rockwell Elementary and Redmond High School. Limited transportation is provided. Register today while there’s still space!

Lake Washington School District to Offer Summer High School Athletics Program
Summer athletics programs to operate the same as during the school year
Starting in Summer 2019, Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is offering high school summer athletics as part of its overall athletics programming. 
Starting this year, LWSD will officially offer a summer athletic season that will compensate coaches for providing supervision, establish a system that ensures compliance with WIAA rules, ensure that team summer activities are carried out in a fashion consistent with the same standard of care as is applied throughout the school year, and ensure that all participants are medically cleared to participate.
