On Thursday, May 23rd, RMS students will participate in our annual Grizzly Survey during an extended Grizzly Time period.
Purpose
The Grizzly Survey asks a variety of questions related to students' academic, social-emotional, and career needs. Response data helps RMS identify how well our students are functioning in specific areas, and enable us to proactively address areas of need via future programming and supports.
Demographic Questions & Disaggregated Data
The survey incorporates initial demographic questions, which enable us to disaggregate the data to identify if there are student groups whose needs warrant targeted support. Disaggregating data is a critical step as we work toward our goal of improving access and equity for all students.
Anonymity of Data
The survey is administered through the K-12 Insight survey program, which is the official survey program utilized by the Lake Washington School District. Survey administrators are only able to determine if a student has started and/or completed the survey, but individual responses are anonymous and not linked with a student’s name. We also have a protocol in place that maximizes individual student privacy during administration via spaced seating, laptop positioning, close teacher monitoring, and guidance about not sharing responses with peers.
If you have questions about this survey, or would like to opt your student out of participating, please send an email to Steffany Black @
sblack@lwsd.org
no later than Wednesday, May 22
nd
by the end of the school day.

Kudos to our winning team at the Washington State National History Day competition
|
|
Eight RMS students achieved first and second place for their interactive websites at the Washington State National History Day competition. Both teams will advance on to the national competition which takes place June 9-13 at the University of Maryland. National History Day is an academic enrichment program for students in grades 6-12. Students select topics connected to an annual theme and complete their own in-depth research on the topic. This year, the annual theme is "Triumph and Tragedy." Students present their conclusions by creating museum-style exhibits, media documentaries, research papers, interactive websites, and dramatic performances. The competition cycle takes students from the school level to regional, state, and national competitions. At each level of competition students share their work with their peers, historians, educators, and professionals in related fields as they complete for special awards and the opportunity to advance to the next level of competition. Congratulations to these students that will represent Washington State at the national competition:

Bike to School Day - Student Bicyclist Winner!

Congratulations to the owner of the bike shown! They are the lucky winner of the Back to School Day last Wednesday, May 8, which awarded them 5 Awesome Pawsome coins! Thank you to everyone who biked! As part of the School Pool month, Bike to School Day was a great opportunity to help save the environment, earn money for ASB and enjoy the great weather! Remind your students to fill out the School Pool tracker every time they've biked, walked, bussed or carpooled. At the end of the month, if they turn in their tracker, they'll get a free round of putt putt golf at the Rainbow Run Putt Putt course at Willows Golf Course in Redmond!
