Going Green: Small Changes to Make Big Impact
|
|
Do you buy plastic water bottles or use disposable cups at work or school? Do you know that these facts about bottled water:
- Costs 10,000 times more to produce tap water
- The plastic bottles it comes in take 1,000 years to biodegrade
- A million are bought around the world EVERY MINUTE
- Fewer than half of the bottles bought in 2016 were collected for recycling
- Just 7% of those collected were turned into new bottles
- Most plastic bottles produced end up in landfill or in the ocean
Going Green Tip: Please replace single-use, disposable items with reusable items such as metal bottles or ceramic mugs. Bring reusable bottles to school or work, keep them in your backpack or on your desk and refill!
It's a small change that makes a big impact!

SchoolPool Is Almost Here!
|
|
School Pool "Walk and Roll" starts in May, just in a week! Just like in October, your student(s) have a chance to support RMS and help the environment at the same time. All they have to is mark down every time they walk, bike, bus, or carpool on their SchoolPool tracker. At the end of the month, students fill out the contact information on the back and return it. Each returned tracker earns RMS $5. In October, RMS students returned 401 School Pool trackers, setting the record for most cards returned this year! Let's see if we can encourage the students to beat that number! Tell your kids to keep a look out for the School Pool tracking card coming soon and encourage them "Walk and Roll" to school!
