Let's serve our great RMS community
|
|
We know that this time of year is often a time to connect with friends and family and is steeped in traditions. As part of that, we also know that this is a time of high stress for many of our students who are going onto break with need. So I come to you with our hands out asking for support if you are able to help.
Here are a few ways to support our Grizzly Family, note that all donated items will support families within our community:
Gift Cards
Our gift card drive has officially started- if your family would like to give to other families this winter and support our community, you can donate a gift card to a local grocery store in small denominations. Please drop off gift cards at the main office prior to December 20.
Coats
We are also collecting new and gently used coats. Coats for all ages will be appreciated. You can drop off your donation at the main office prior to December 20.
Food Boxes
For Thanksgiving break, our school community partnered with Redmond Nourishing Network School Break Food Box Program to provide over 50 supplemental food boxes to RMS families. The food boxes offer nutrition, sustenance, and hope for families struggling with food insecurity. With the Winter holiday just weeks away, we are again partnering with Nourishing Network to fill the hunger gap left when our school cafeteria doors close and free and reduced lunches are not available.
The School Break Food Box Program not only provides important care and support for RMS families; it is a wonderful service opportunity for families looking for a meaningful way to serve the community this holiday season. Consider shopping and packing a box as a family. Students can earn service hours by participating in the donation process. To defray the cost, consider encouraging your child to practice leadership skills by organizing family, friends, neighbors, or teams to share the cost of a box.
To pledge your donation, please visit the link below. The signup genius page also provides the food box drop-off location and a shopping list.

We want to acknowledge this month's Volunteer of the Month for her efforts in planning, supplying and chaperoning the monthly Student Recognition events.
As she genuinely stated, she does it because the kids love it!
This is why we have named Savita Iyer the December Volunteer of the month.
Congratulations Savita! Keep doing what you love - You are an "Awesome Pawsome" volunteer!

Is your child too sick for school?
|
|
While school attendance is important, so is the health of all students and staff. If your child experiences any of the following symptoms, please keep him/her at home or make appropriate child care arrangements: fever, vomiting, lice/scabies, diarrhea, chronic cough and/or runny nose, sore throat, rash, ear infection (with fever), or eye infection. If he/she experiences any of these symptoms at school, the school nurse or office staff may ask you to pick your student up as soon as possible.
