Battle of the Ax is Almost Here!

The 126th Battle of the Ax is tomorrow – do you have tickets? Student tickets are sold out, but adult tickets are still available at the link below. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Munson Stadium. Please note that Denison has a clear bag policy.

Join us Tonight for the BOTA Community Pep Rally

The BOTA Community Pep Rally is TONIGHT at 8 p.m. at the Sherman High School Hudspeth Athletic Complex. Come out and support your Bearcats as they look to take back the Ax!


The Sherman High School Student Council is collecting canned goods at the Community Pep Rally and at all Sherman ISD schools through tomorrow, Friday to support Master Key Ministries. You can also make monetary donations through the link below!

District Unveils New Strategic Plan

Sherman ISD has laid out a plan for teaching and learning to guide the district for the next three school years. The strategic plan was developed last school year through a series of district meetings and emphasizes the following focus areas:


  • Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS)
  • Instructional Capacity Building (Coaching)
  • Talent (Recruitment, Development and Retention)


The committee also updated the district’s vision, mission and values and envisioned a student experience to reflect the strategic goals and outcomes desired for students.

SISD Utilizes Standard Response Protocol

Now that the school year is underway, all Sherman ISD campuses have successfully participated in their first Standard Response Protocol (SRP) drills for the year. The district utilizes SRP so that all teachers, staff and students have a uniform response to a wide variety of school-based emergencies.

SEF 5K & Fun Run Set For September 21

The Sherman Education Foundation 5K & Bubble-K Fun Run will be held bright and early on Saturday, September 21 starting at 8 a.m.! Register now through September 12 for the early registration price and a guaranteed T-shirt. All proceeds benefit the Sherman Education Foundation, which supports educational enrichment opportunities for Sherman ISD staff and students.

New State Requirements Impact School Nurses

Nurses in Texas public schools are now required to obtain parental consent and a doctor’s order to administer prescription and over-the-counter medications to students. Starting in the 2024-25 school year, parents must return a completed Request for Medication Administration form with a doctor's signature in order for nurses to provide medication at school. Ready to give back to your community in a meaningful way? Become a mentor for 4th-12th grade students and create a positive, lasting impact on the next generation.


If you’re a new or returning mentor, fill out the mentor application and mark your calendar for a mandatory training session for all mentors on September 10 from 12-1 p.m. at the Sherman ISD Service Center.
