News and Updates

Early Release This Week; Students Return January 9

Today and tomorrow are early release days! Jefferson Learning Center releases at 11 a.m., and Fred Douglass and Perrin ECCs release at 11:45 a.m. Elementary campuses dismiss at 12 p.m., and secondary campuses and DAEP dismiss at 1 p.m.


There will be no school starting Friday, December 22. Staff return from break on Monday, January 8, and students return on Tuesday, January 9.

Designs of New Elementary, Stadium Released

Early design images of the district’s first new elementary were presented to the Sherman ISD Board of Trustees Monday night as well as the first architectural rendering of the new stadium at Sherman High School! The new elementary school and stadium are planned to open in fall 2025.

SISD Board Approves 2024-2025 Academic Calendar

The Sherman ISD Board of Trustees finalized the 2024-2025 academic calendar at their regular meeting on Monday. Mark your calendar now for key dates:


  • First Day of School - August 14, 2024 
  • Thanksgiving Break - November 25-29, 2024
  • Christmas Break - December 23 - January 6, 2025
  • Spring Break - March 10-14, 2025

SISD Students Serve Community During First Annual Legacy Leaders Day of Service

On November 17 before students were released for Thanksgiving, Sherman ISD deployed approximately 350 students to 31 community locations as part of our first annual Legacy Leaders Day of Service. 


The goal of this event was to introduce students to ways that they can make a difference and give back to those who do so much to support them and our community.

SHS Fine Arts Collaborate For Winter

Showcase Performances

Sherman High School Fine Arts put on a wonderful show Friday night! Attendees enjoyed an art show and light food as band, choir and orchestra students performed Christmas tunes and classic musical pieces. The night was wrapped with a fantastic collaboration from the full orchestra, now in its second year, and the varsity mixed choir.

ICYMI: Sherman ISD to Offer Electronic Engineering Technology Certification

Sherman ISD will soon add an electronic engineering technology (EET) certification to the career and technical education (CTE) opportunities available to students at Sherman High School. 


Workforce Solutions Texoma received a $150,000 High Demand Job Training (HDJT) grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to help meet the needs of the growing high-tech industry in Sherman. The grant was awarded to Sherman ISD and matched dollar-for-dollar by the Sherman Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) for a grand total of $300,000.

SHS Hosting Dual Credit Information Night January 9

Sherman High School will be hosting a presentation about the many dual credit opportunities available to students on January 9 starting at 6 p.m.! Courses range from academic core classes like college algebra and English to CTE classes like EMT or cybersecurity. The presentation will be geared towards 10th and 11th graders, but anyone is welcome to attend. For questions, please reach out to Jennifer Pruiett at jpruiett@shermanisd.net.

The fall semester has flown by, and it's nearly time to view your child's final grades! The posting period began on Monday for the middle schools and on Tuesday for the high school. Elementary school can post grades starting today. The posting period closes January 11, 2024. You can check grades throughout the period at www.shermanisd.net/viewgrades and logging into or registering with Frontline.

This Week in Bearcat Athletics

Boys Win Home District Opener Against Lovejoy

Your Bearcats fought hard against the Lovejoy Leopards Tuesday night! The boys emerged victorious, 46-37, in a thrilling home district opener over Lovejoy and are off to a fantastic 16-1 start this season!


The Lady Cats were able to keep pace in the second half but couldn't close the gap built by the Lady Leopards in the first, and they lost, 62-37.
