SISD Celebrates College & Career Week

This week in Sherman ISD, students of all ages got to explore the excitement of going to college and having a career! Finding your dream job can start with a spark in the classroom, and students heard from professionals and college and military recruiters about all the opportunities for success after graduating high school. Way to dream big, Bearcats!

SHS will celebrate Homecoming with a parade and community pep rally on Wednesday, September 25 as part of the week’s activities. Come support our Bearcats in downtown Sherman as we welcome back alumni, celebrate the return of the ax and feature SHS student groups and homecoming nominees! A community pep rally will follow the parade at Bearcat Stadium. 

The football team will host Frisco Centennial for the homecoming game on Friday night. The Sherman Ex-Students Association will host their annual meeting and luncheon on Saturday, September 28 to honor distinguished faculty and alumni. Learn more, and buy tickets here. 

September is recognized annually as Deaf Awareness Month to celebrate and advocate for the deaf community. Sherman ISD is home to one of 53 Regional Day School Programs for the Deaf in the state of Texas. Watch the video to learn more about RDSPD! 🤟

Register Now for the SEF 5K & Fun Run

Join the fun and get some exercise at the Sherman Education Foundation 5K & Bubble-K Fun next Saturday, September 21. Register by midnight tonight for the lowest participation cost and to guarantee a race T-shirt! All proceeds benefit the Sherman Education Foundation, which supports educational enrichment opportunities for Sherman ISD staff and students.

Staff and community members from Fred Douglass Early Childhood Center, Perrin Early Childhood Center and Wakefield Elementary discussed design ideas and possible building layouts for the district’s new early childhood center before voting on their favorites! The new campus is scheduled to open in Fall 2026 at the current Wakefield site.

Regular school attendance plays a critical role in students’ learning and development. 

Students should attend school whenever they are feeling well enough to do so and are not running a fever of 100.4 or higher, vomiting or experiencing diarrhea. Students may return to school once fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and improved symptoms. COVID-19 should be treated like any other respiratory virus. 

Please help us keep our schools safe and clean by encouraging students to practice good hygiene and cover coughs and sneezes.

Tomorrow your varsity volleyball Lady Cats will take the court for their first district match at McKinney North. Start time is 5 p.m.

Your varsity Bearcat football team will have their district opener tomorrow at Bearcat Stadium facing Frisco Reedy. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
