Make Sure To Vote In Primary Elections

Decisions are made by people who show up to vote.

The consequences of the primary elections are especially high for public education. Those we elect to the Texas Legislature will make key decisions affecting our students, teachers, families, and local public schools.

Early voting is underway now through March 1, and Election Day is March 5. Any registered Texas voter can vote in either party’s primary. More information about how and where to vote is available at votetexas.gov.

SMS Students Learn About Area Historical Figure

History was brought to life at Sherman Middle School last week as students learned about the amazing and inspiring story of Bass Reeves! Reeves grew up as a slave near Sherman and went on to become one of the first African-American deputy US Marshals whose work spanned the region. The presentation featured Dr. Sidney Thompson, author of The Bass Reeves Trilogy, and Ernest Marsh, a living history reenactor portraying Reeves. This opportunity was made possible through support from First United Bank and Grayson County Republican Party.
