Sherman ISD will soon add an electronic engineering technology (EET) certification to the career and technical education (CTE) opportunities available to students at Sherman High School.
Workforce Solutions Texoma received a $150,000 High Demand Job Training (HDJT) grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to help meet the needs of the growing high-tech industry in Sherman. The grant was awarded to Sherman ISD and matched dollar-for-dollar by the Sherman Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) for a grand total of $300,000.
Sherman ISD will use the funds to purchase the necessary equipment to train students interested in a career in electrical engineering.
“This program is a remarkable pathway for our students to be able to graduate with job opportunities providing substantial income straight out of high school, in our community,” said Dr. Tyson Bennett, Sherman ISD superintendent of schools. “The impact will truly be life changing for many of our students and their families.”
