Back-to-School Tips for Bus Riders

Sherman ISD provides bus transportation for students who live more than two miles from their zoned campus. Here are some important tips to keep in mind as the new school year gets underway:

  • Practice walking younger children to the stop and discuss the route they will take home.
  • Create an after-school backup plan. Many students may be confused if they step off the bus and something is out of the ordinary, like if no one is home or at the bus stop. This can involve contacting a parent or guardian or staying in a safe place.
  • Please anticipate possible delays, especially during the first week of school, which could be 15-45 minutes. You can track your child’s bus using the “Here Comes the Bus” app.

Back-to-School Tips from Sherman ISD Police

With school starting, the Sherman ISD Police Department wants to remind drivers to slow down and pay attention on the roads! Remember, it is against the law to use cell phones in school zones. Passing a school bus while it is loading or unloading passengers is also strictly prohibited.
