Sherman ISD Kicks Off New School Year

Classrooms and hallways are again bustling with Bearcats as Sherman ISD students returned to school for the new year on Monday, and a new year means a few changes for our students. See what’s new.

We hope everyone has had as much fun this week as Superintendent Dr. Tyson Bennett on the first day!

Fun First With The Superintendent

Pre-Construction Work Begins at

Crutchfield and Fairview

Sherman ISD started to see signs of progress this week related to our 2023 bond program! Both Crutchfield and Fairview elementary schools are getting brand-new replacement campuses, and work to assess the land adjacent to the existing schools has already begun and will ramp up throughout the fall.

Geotechnical crews are on site this week collecting soil samples to prepare for the start of construction in the spring. While this pre-construction work will result in some temporary outdoor disruptions, at no time will there be any disruption to learning inside the current school buildings. We are so excited about the future of these schools!

Metal Detectors In Daily Use At SHS, Jefferson

Safety Minute - Metal Detectors

Sherman ISD continues to enhance school security to protect our students and staff. After a successful pilot in the 2022-23 school year, metal detectors are being utilized daily at Sherman High School and Jefferson Learning Center this year, and SISD will expand their use at Piner and Sherman middle schools as well.

The metal detectors limit certain prohibited items from being brought on campus. To keep the line moving quickly and efficiently, students should not bring any items to school that they don’t need and inform officers of any objects that may trigger the metal detectors. This will help ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible and students get to class on time.
