Show Your Bearcat Pride for Homecoming 2023!

Our Homecoming King and Queen nominees looked great during the Homecoming Parade Wednesday evening! Finalists will be chosen tonight during the Homecoming Revue starting at 6 p.m. in the Sherman High School auditorium, and the King and Queen will be crowned at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow evening at Bearcat Stadium.


After the coronation, your Sherman Bearcats take on the Frisco Lebanon Trail Blazers! Kickoff is at 7 p.m., and tickets are still available! Buy yours at www.shsbearcats.net/httickets.

SHS Students Get Creative With Old Tradition

With Homecoming Week here and a demand for mums as high as ever, the floral design classes at SHS were up to the task, creating mums with small personal flourishes for not only themselves but for other students.


“I started by teaching my classes the history of Homecoming mums and how it’s done only in Texas,” said floral design teacher Julie Pearcy. “It’s exciting to have the opportunity to expand from fresh flowers into simulating them artificially to promote school spirit.”

Sherman ISD Builds Culture of College and

Career Readiness

Several of our campuses hosted dress-up days this week to coincide with today’s college fair at SHS. Nearly 80 college, trade, and military recruiters shared what they have to offer to our juniors and seniors to help them better explore their options after graduation!


Early college and career preparation is the key to helping students find the right

fit. Students across SISD learn about the importance of higher education and planning for the future.

Fabulous Field Trips Start Up For New School Year

These fantastic Fairview students kicked off this year's Fabulous Field Trip program with a visit to Pickles & Pottery on Tuesday! The trip got their creative minds going as they learned what it's like to be a customer and an employee with a special behind-the-scenes tour of the studio.


On Thursday, a group of wonderful Washington Tigers enjoyed a trip to Nautilus Family Fitness Center where they learned about how the business supports fitness in our community.

Get First-Hand Look into Sherman ISD

During Silver Cats Tour

Spread the word about the upcoming Silver Cats tour, open to Sherman residents 55 and older!


On October 12, our Silver Cats will go on a tour of Sherman High School and Fairview Elementary with lunch included at The SHS Bistro! The tour begins at 10:30 a.m. at the SISD Admin Office with transportation provided around the district. The tour will wrap up around 2 p.m.

Sherman Rotary Club Donates 1,400 Books For

Sory’s Literary Night Owls

Thank you to the Sherman Rotary Club for donating 1,400 books to Sory Elementary School for their Literary Night Owls program, which encourages students and their parents to read together every week! Sherman Rotary Club also donated small gift bags for students to enjoy at home. We appreciate the support our Bearcat Boosters show for our students.

SEF Arts Fest 5K Set For This Saturday

Help support the Sherman Education Foundation by participating in their annual Arts Fest 5K & Bubble-K Fun Run this Saturday! SEF provides support to Sherman ISD educators and students through grants for education enrichment. You can run to support your campus as well! There's a surprise for the campus with the highest participation percentage according to enrollment!


Participants can register up to the morning of the 5K and Bubble-K. The 5K starts at 8 a.m. at Piner Middle School, and the Bubble-K starts at 9 a.m. at the same starting line. 


Can’t make it to the run? Don’t worry! SEF offers a “Sleepin’ In” option to receive a T-shirt from the event.

This Week in Bearcat Athletics

Reading With The Bearcats Kicks Off at Sory

Sherman High School football players, cheerleaders and sports medicine students welcomed students to Sory Elementary School on Thursday for the very first Reading With The Bearcats of the school year! In addition to sharing books, our high school students talked about the importance of courage, a cornerstone of The Bearcat Way and our featured character trait for the month of September.

Bearcat Athletics Updates

Volleyball

Our Lady Cats started off their district season with a 3-1 win over Princeton at home on Friday! On Tuesday, they traveled to face a tough McKinney North team and fell in three sets.


Tennis

Bearcat Tennis showed improvement and fought hard in close matches against Melissa High School, but they came up short on the scorecard.


Cross Country

Bearcats Cross Country competed in the McKinney Boyd Bronco Stampede over the weekend with the boys finishing 13th out of 20 teams and the girls finishing 9th out of 13. Top runners for the boys were Kaden Hernandez (24th) and John Smucker (43rd), and top runners for the girls were Shaylie Parkin (24th) and Xitlali Mendoza (43rd).


Football

The Bearcats started their district season with an away game versus Frisco Centennial. After a hard-fought match, Centennial pulled away, 49-34.
