SISD Works to Expand Enrollment in STEM Courses

Sherman High School graduates will be well-prepared for the high-tech companies moving to the region, thanks to a new agreement between Sherman ISD and the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI).

The three-year agreement aims to increase student enrollment in Advanced Placement courses in math, science and English, boost student performance on AP tests and bolster middle and high school teachers’ knowledge of AP content and skills.

Become A Mentor and Positively Impact

SISD Students!

Are you looking for a way to make a positive impact on the community and the next generation of citizens?

Sherman ISD is looking for caring and responsible adults who are interested in giving a student one-on-one time throughout the school year, building the student’s self-esteem and desire to succeed. Mentors commit to meet with a student 30 minutes once a week, during school hours and on a school campus. The mentor chooses the campus. Activities are based on each student’s need, and could include helping with homework, talking, playing games and eating lunch together. The SISD Mentoring program is district-wide.

Please complete this form if you are interested in becoming a mentor, as well as the SISD Volunteer Application, which includes a background check. New mentors must complete mentor training on Tuesday, September 12 from noon to 1 p.m. at the SISD Service Center, 2701 Loy Lake Rd., in order to be paired with a student.
