Sherman ISD Hosts Legacy Leader Day of Service

On the Friday before Thanksgiving break, Bearcats from every campus showed their gratitude by giving back to the community that supports them! They served through organizing food bags for the needy, cleaning local parks, weeding public gardens and much more during this first annual Legacy Leaders Day of Service.

Bearcat College Program Application Open

Until December 15

Eighth graders can graduate high school with a college degree through the Bearcat Collegiate Program! The program provides college credits at a fraction of the cost of four-year schools, and for students whose families meet the income criteria, tuition is free!

Piner’s Mindy Rodriguez Receives Texoma’s Golden Apple Award

Congratulations to Piner Middle School’s Mindy Rodriguez, 6th grade assistant principal, for receiving Texoma’s Golden Apple Award from Texoma Chevy Dealers and KTEN! As AP, Mindy works with data to ensure teachers are at their best, and she is highly involved with the Piner PTA! See her interview on KTEN December 8 during the 11 a.m. news!

Neblett Knights Take Fabulous Field Trip To City Hall

Some of our outstanding Neblett Elementary students learned more about their hometown on a Fabulous Field Trip to Sherman City Hall. Mayor David Plyler welcomed them and talked about how local government works, and Assistant City Manager Terrence Steele led them on a tour around the offices and showed how the city manages daily operations. He also presented several project pictures and proposals and discussed the requirements of how to become an engineer for the city. Thanks to the City of Sherman for being a great host!

Instructional Coach Promoted to Assistant Principal

Sherman ISD is excited to announce the promotion of Shann Schubert, a seasoned educator with a passion for serving young children, to the assistant principal role at Fred Douglass and Perrin early childhood centers.


“Shann has a wide range of experience in early childhood and her love for the kids and their families is evident in everything she does,” said Amy Pesina, Sherman ISD chief academic officer. “She is an asset to our early childhood campuses, and she will be an excellent addition to the administrative team.”

Guitar Club Making A Difference At

Grayson Post-Adjudication

Earlier this month, the Guitar Club at the Grayson County Post-Adjudication facility gifted its 8th guitar to a graduate thanks to grant funding from the Sherman Education Foundation, and Fine Arts Coordinator Kalyn McAlester spoke about the Club’s impact at the annual conference of the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Southeastern Oklahoma State University professors completed a case study on how the Club has helped improve the cognitive and academic performance of students!

Bearcat Basketball Remains Undefeated

With Win Over Paris

Bearcat Basketball is off to a great start this season! Over Thanksgiving break, they defeated Frisco Reedy and Burkburnett in close games, and on Tuesday, they went up to 6-0 with a 50-39 win over Paris!

Bearcat Swimming Takes Second

At Southwest Invitational

Just before Thanksgiving break, Bearcat Swimming headed to Fort Worth to compete in the Southwest High School Invitational, and after some tough competition, they placed second as a team overall!

Bearcat Athletics Update

Girls Basketball

The Lady Cats have split the last two games. They faced a tough Pottsboro team on November 21 and lost, 34-13, but they bounced back Tuesday night with a 58-48 win over Whitesboro.


Soccer

Girls and boys soccer scrimmages will be starting up soon! The girls have their first scrimmage versus Anna at home on Friday next week, and the boys travel to Wichita Falls on December 11 for their first scrimmage.
