Sherman ISD is moving forward with plans to build a new, multipurpose stadium at Sherman High School after working through cost and design considerations. The Board of Trustees approved a guaranteed maximum price for construction of the stadium and related site improvements earlier this week.

The 8,000-seat stadium will be ready in summer 2026, three years sooner than the 2029 opening shared with voters prior to the 2023 bond election. Work surrounding the existing athletic field at Sherman High School will begin this winter.

Sherman ISD Celebrates Substitute Teachers

Sherman ISD is proud to recognize our incredible substitute educators this Friday for National Substitute Educators Day! With over 300 substitutes serving across the district, their dedication and passion ensure learning continues seamlessly for our students every day.

Verne Newman and Sheryl Keown are two former Sherman ISD teachers whose deep passion for education and love for our schools brought them back to the classroom as substitutes after retirement. For both, the decision was clear—they missed the close-knit connections with teachers and students who feel like family.

Sherman ISD is deeply grateful for the dedication of all our substitutes, whether returning to the classroom after retirement or exploring a career in education. Thank you for making a meaningful difference in our classrooms!

The program helps participants understand all the ways we are supporting students based on their individual needs.
