Solar Eclipse is Next Monday, April 8

All Sherman ISD students will participate in learning activities related to Monday’s solar eclipse. Eighth grade students, along with Sherman High School students in Astronomy, Environmental Science and Advanced Placement science classes, will have the opportunity to view the eclipse outdoors with certified solar viewing classes, weather permitting, so long as they return a signed permission form. Students in other classes and grade levels will experience the eclipse through a live broadcast from NASA and will be involved in activities connecting this event to cross-curricular learning.

If parents and guardians wish to keep their children home from school on Monday, it will be an excused absence. An Educational Opportunity Form must be completed and returned to the front office at your child’s school by the end of the school day tomorrow.

3D Printers Support Student Learning

Sherman ISD elementary students are learning the basics of 3D design and engineering in their computer lab classes, thanks to new 3D printers funded by the Sherman Education Foundation.

These printers test a student’s creativity and science knowledge through an online 3D modeling program called Tinkercad, and the skills they pick up there can apply to classes at the secondary level or even to careers.
