We have so many amazing events this month! Bring your little ones by the store for some fun summer activities such as yoga, music classes, and a superhero party at the end of the month! We also will be hosting Heiki Koland for a special farmer's market storytime as well as the return of Farmer Dave for a musical storytime!
We also want to share this important message:
As a woman owned bookstore, we strongly advocate for Women’s Rights. Second Star to the Right will be donating 5% of all purchases (online too) to Planned Parenthood from June 25 to July 31. We encourage you to donate to them as well.
RSVP is required for most events. Limited signed books are available with some tickets. We're adding new hybrid events all the time, and slowly brining in-person options back. Be sure to check our website and social media so you don't miss out!
What's that sound? Oh, it's just me screaming about how cute this book is! When Mama goes on a business trip without them, Mommy and Daughter are left to their own devices until she comes back in a week. The illustrations are absolutely dreamy - I appreciate the beauty of the illustrations and how everyone has their own little unique identifier, may it be a piercing, strawberry tattoo or vitiligo patch. Adorable!
This book is a pleasure to look at! The story is relatively straightforward, a household plunger wants to be a vase. It receives backlash from other household items but eventually goes on to achieve its dream and is accepted. The main message of the book is to choose who you are, don't let others decide it for you. It is a solid message with beautiful illustrations and funny quips that put it over the top.
Sweet, lovely book about becoming an older brother to triplets, who Jacob refers to as "the Trips." Jacob had really wanted puppies instead. He grows to love his baby sisters, and writes a report about how they grow, learn, and change. His words are like poetry. Easy early reader, and charming!
Honestly, The Honeys by Ryan La Sala is one of those books that the less you know about it going in, the better. However, I will say this book is like if you were to cross Mean Girls with a queer(er) Salvador Dalí and maybe just a bit of Stephen King. But gayer. Anyway it's a fantastic, surreal and horrific ride.
