Newsletter for Parents and Friends of
Beaumont School

November 11 - 17, 2018
Dear Parents and Friends,

No matter if you follow politics closely or not, it was hard to escape the news of this week’s election, due to its historical significance for women. As of this morning, at least 100 women won House races, with 35 newly elected women joining 65 incumbents. That bests the previous record of 85 female House Representatives according to the Congressional Research Service. It was a historic day for several Beaumont politicians as well, here in the state of Ohio. Specifically, Beaumont Alumna Judge Melody Stewart, ’80, became the first African-American woman elected to Ohio Supreme Court. Two other alumnae, State Rep. Janine Boyd, ’89, was elected to third term representing House District 9, and State Rep. Juanita Brent, ’02 was elected to her first term representing House District 12. Regardless of party affiliation, we celebrate our alumnae’s success and wish them the best in their efforts to change the world for the better.

Mission Integration

In November, the Church invites us to remember our deceased loved ones and acquaintances. Through prayer we maintain our closest connection to those we have lost. In this way we can gain inspiration from the lessons they have taught us by the way they lived. St. Angela never lost her connection to her parents and her beloved sister, who died when Angela was very young. They were her inspiration for the great deeds she would accomplish. Angela, herself, promised to be with her company after her death, more alive than when she was among them on earth. So now she sees all of us as God sees us, uniting us with her on an even more profound level.

Campus Ministry News

Campus Ministry has been busy preparing for the Kairos retreat this week. We will join students and leaders from St. Edward’s High School from Thursday through Saturday at Inspiration Hills Retreat Center. This has been a tradition at Beaumont for the past sixteen years and is a very valuable, reflective time away for our students! We would love some prayers for a grace-filled experience!

The Thanksgiving Food Drive for St. Aloysius is in progress. Your daughter’s homeroom is putting together a complete dinner basket and the faculty and staff is providing the turkeys and fresh potatoes. Students need to have their items in by next Wednesday; the food will be delivered on Thursday, Nov. 15 th . Thank you for helping to feed the needy this season!

Service hours can be earned after school by helping the Social Justice/Service club in Mr. Steward’s room. They are putting together sleeping mats for the homeless! Stop by and help!

A reminder to Juniors: Your class retreat is next Friday! An annual retreat is required each year, so we hope to see a full attendance on Nov. 16 th !
