Member Transitional Employment 💼

This summer, thanks to Aramark’s connection with Gateway members at Bob Jones University, five members gained transitional employment at North Greenville University.

From June 3 to July 18, members worked in serving, dishwashing, and utility roles four days a week, supported by Gateway staff to ensure a smooth experience.

Welcome to Gateway 👋

Give a warm Gateway welcome to these members!

Jared, with an associate’s degree in graphic design, looks forward to employment and independent living while contributing in the clerical unit.

Hudson brings his passion for the culinary arts to Gateway, joining the kitchen unit and enjoying teamwork with fellow members.

Ryan, a guitarist, was drawn to Gateway by its friendly community and enjoys working at the snack bar window.

Reggie, introduced to Gateway by his high school counselor, brings high energy and positivity to the clerical unit each day.

We are also happy to introduce a new staff member and interns who have been working hard all summer!

Destiny (staff), a former intern and new staff member with a Master’s in Social Work, now serves as Gateway’s Clubhouse Services & Documentation Liaison, bringing empathy, dedication, and expertise to both members and operations.

Anna (intern), pursuing her Master’s in community-engaged medicine at Furman, hopes to broaden her perspective on healthcare and its socioeconomic impacts.

Farrah (intern), a Clemson student, values building relationships and creating safe, judgment-free spaces rooted in compassion and respect.

Summer Socials 🥳

This summer, Gateway members enjoyed a variety of fun socials.

Highlights included cheering on the Greenville Drive in the Spinx Family Foundation suite (with a surprise visit from Reedy Rip’it), celebrating the Fourth of July with over 40 members and plenty of games, and returning to another Drive game on July 11 sponsored by TREHEL, where we handed out 200 Gateway fans.

We capped off the month with a scenic trip along the Cherokee Foothills to Aunt Sue’s Country Corner—making great memories with friends and colleagues.

In addition to summer socials, two new member-led groups have launched to further foster connection and fun at Gateway.

Gateway Foodies is a new social club where members explore different cuisines and cultures together—from Japanese and Indian street food to a classic Southern diner.

Next Gen meets every Monday at 1:00 p.m. for members under 30 to connect, welcome newcomers, and plan social events. As member Reggie put it, “It helps welcome young people to Gateway, and it’s fun!”

Support Gateway and all of our services and programs that make our community stronger!
